Cannot get SFP to recognize ADAT signal?

ok, so... i just got the optical cables i ordered today. now, i have never dealt with adat, so please be patient.
i have my turntables going into my mixer, and the master out of the mixer going out via 1/4" cables into in 1 and in 2 of the ADA8000, 1/4" as well.
i then have the adat out going to adat in A of my pulsar card. I then have adat A out sending the signal back to the ADA8000, to the adat in.
the reason i have done this is i imagine this is necessary to send the word clock to the ADA8000.
i have SFP set as master at 44.1, and i have the switch on the back of the ADA set to slave adat in.
now, the green indicator light for in 1 and 2 are lighting up, which means the signal is reaching the converter... it's just not getting fed into SFP.
so, i am wondering... is it because the signal is not getting converted properly and it's not even reaching the soundcards adat in? or is it bieng sent thru the converter fine and i just can't get SFP to recognize it?
in SFP i have adat A source and dest modules open. now, do i indeed have to send the signal out from the pulsar to the ADA? for wordclock purposes? and if so, does the adat a dest module have anything to do with it?
so many questions... anywhere i can read up on this whole business? i searched the site but nothing i came across really dealt with my problem...

Have you tried slaving Pulsar? If you run into sync problems, try different Master/Slave settings, that takes 10 sec...

is the adat modules the same as the asio's in that you have to have a source as well as a dest? i have both opened, but i was just wondering if it was necessary.
in order to slave sfp to the ADA... would i just set the ada to master 44.1, connect the adat out to the adat a in on the card, and set sfp to slave adat a? or do i need both out and in to be connected?
i tried both with no luck. i also tried switching over to the adat b ports... and no luck...

This may not help.....
Even so when I was an adat newbie (not so long ago) I eventually realised that I had read the connections diagram for pulsar II incorrectly and that I had indeed got my adat in outs the wrong way round. So thats why I couldn't hear anything...DUH!!!!
Hopefully of some use

Indeed when "looking from above your fitted card" farthest to your LEFT is adat in A. In the scopoe manual PDF diagram, at first it appears to be on the right (The view is from below).
If not I can only suggest that you search the threads for other ada8000 users and see if they've had any related issues.

i don't go by if they are lit up... i plug the one end to the port called OUT, and the other end to the port labeled in the manual as IN.
i went to the samplerate window in SFP, and the indicator light that is supposed to turn red when it is recieving a wordclock signal is not lit.
i tried using a new cable, and it still isn't lighting. i have set my ADA to master 44.1, but it doesn't seem scope is recieving the signal?!

well, it must have been the cables... i went and bought a new one, and it now works???
this is very odd because i ordered 2 and niether of them work... must be a faulty supplier i guess?
so, anyways... problem solved! it sounds more beautiful then i could have imagined... compared to what it used to sound like using the sound card biult into the mobo...

ADAT cables are so fragile, they could have been damaged so easily at any stage. Also they are easily screwed up by any amount of dust or contamination.
BTW, I certainly didn't mean to be insulting about the "are the modules connected" thing, it was just the way you worded your post that made me think that could be the problem.
Glad you are up and running!
