hi everyone (this is the 3rd list i have put this message on) i have been having some serious problems with audio on my computer.
the audio on every program, except recycle for some reason, starts
and stops, sometimes the screen animation will slow down as this
happens. pulsar plays fine almost all of the time when i use it in
its classic mode. there are some other strange things that have been
happening, like wavelab works better (as in fewer droupouts) when I
have the wave image fully magnified. the only real problem with this
is that I cant see the wave well enough to edit it. also, reason
works better when i show more of the song, or more bars (kind of the
opposite of the wavelab problem). the problem with this is that it
only allows for very basic arrangements.
i cant play mp3s dvds or any wave files. my gigastudio seems to work
ok although until i upgraded to 2.2 the sounds were playing at a
different speed (almost as if they were playing at a different sample
rate)
also, i keep getting two main errors. one is a pulsar error stating a
missing stdm connection. it says pulsar(id 1) does not seem to have a
stdm connectionto the other boards. please check the stdm cables. the
other error is, of course, a blue screen error saying something about
my having reached the allocated ammount of minSPs, which is 5 it
says. i tried the fix that microsoft gives on thier website, but no
help. I am not sure if these are related or not.
when i click on settings in the toolbar icon, i can see it flashing
between 44.1khz and -- . this coincides with the audio dropouts.
sorry about going on like this, but i am at wits end about what to do
about this situation. I even uninstalled and reinstalled, formatted
and reformated, upgraded my bios and all my programs. nothing seems
to help.
if anyone out there has any idea what might be causing this or what
might help, please let me know.
here is my setup:

matrox g400
generic network card
2 pulsar 1 boards
gigabyte ga-bx2000
pentium III 500
512 megs ram
win 98 se

desperately seeking help
thanks

go into the control panel > display > settings > advanced, and somewhere in there is a way to turn off bus mastering for your g400. im pretty sure this will cure what ills you

I'm sure it has nothing to do with g400. I'd suspect more the network card, first.

Try without the network card, if it fix the problem, try again with the net card, in a different slot till it work, if it's always the net card, then throw it in the garbage a get a good one, it's cheap anyway.

And also, your video should be set to 16bits, forget 24 or 32 bit display...

What is minSPs?

Did you optimize your system using http://www.infinitevortex.com check list? Go thru this list items one by one... It can do marvels. And this is a MUST, for any PC, P3-500 or P4 2ghz.. It very thorough, take your time, and do this like a pro.
