I have a Pulsar I and II card in my Macintosh G4/1.25 512mg ram.

Works great but wont allow me to change to 96 khz. The error that I get when I try to run in 96 :

Pulsar (ID1) does not seem to have an STDM conncetion to other cards!

DSP meter show that I have ten DSP cards (oops!) chips in my system? What's the deal?

Please help!!

I checked and double checked the connection. Would it have anything to do with othe order (placement) of the PCI cards in my system?

Thanks,

Steb.

You're looking at 10 DSP, not 10 cards! p1 has 4, p2 6 dsp chips.

Which is first in your DSP meter list? It should be the p2. If nothing else works, try removing the Pulsar1 and see if the Pulsar2 alone can sustain the 96kHz... Or swap them around.

Sounds like the STDM cable between the cards might be deseated. Trying fiddling around with it (power down the computer first .) If you don't have an STDM cable between your cards, then that is probably the problem P.

It might also be trying to load a mixer that's too big for the PulsarI. Have you tried with an empty project? It might be fixable by switching the cards in the cset.ini file, to have the P2 be the "first" card (and this be able to load the mixer at 96khz.)

also, do a search on 96khz on this forum to find lots of lively discussion about the benefits vs. drawbacks of 96khz. certainly it sounds better, but if you're going to cd you won't reap any rewards and you could even end up with a worse product(by the time it gets to 44.1khz). considering how hard your system is worked(regardless of soundcard or platform) and the huge amount of storage needed, about all 96khz really gives you is bragging rights.just suggesting.....

Thanks for all the advice. Since I have the option I would like to experiemt.

I have tried to reinstall the cards. With only my Pulsar II in my system 96 kHz works! With both cards and the STDM cable no luck.

How do I modify the cset.ini to get my Pulsar II first in the DSP meter?

I tried physically switching the cards around and Pulsar I is still first in the DSP meter although my Pulsar II is first in the samplerate option page!?

Also, even with an empty environment no 96 kHz!

any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Steb.

Order your cards through cset.ini with Plato's help:
