Hey fellow Scopers! Need your help.

I have entered into an agreement with a local filmaker/producer to provide dance beats for an upcoming health and fitness television show which will begin airing in January 2005. The name of the show is called Chicago Tone & Cardio and is tailored towards aerobics and health related topics. "Cardio" appears to be a specific type of workout routine apparently designed to pump up the heart (or something like that). I have to admit I'm not all that familiar with this yet - but I'm learning.

This will be a 30 minute show that will initially be aired on a local television station here in the Chicago area (WJYS Ch 62). The plan is to take this show into other markets here in the United States (Detroit and Indianapolis are already on board) and eventually other countries around the world.

I have agreed to act as music supervisor for all the shows which means that I have to be able to provide dance tracks for every show that will be in production. There will probably also be DVD, VHS and CD merchandising sales. We were figuring that we might need 60 or more dance tracks a month. Each show will need approximately 5 tracks plus a theme song. It was kind of thought that we would tailor the music to match the market (salsa style for Miami for example).

The reason I am here telling you all this is because I thought some of you might like to get involved in this. I know many of you are working in this genre already and have a lot more experience than I have. I have the ability to produce my own tracks but this is not something I excel at. It would be a learning curve for me and even if I could do it, I don't think I could provide the quantity of songs needed every month.

I can't tell you yet how much money is involved because this is a start-up operation. The director and producer wouldn't commit to a specific dollar amount yet. They just don't know what to expect yet. This thing may take off and be successful or it may die after a few episodes. We just don't know yet. The director is basically looking for artists that are willing to accept, on faith, some sort of back-end profit participation which means that you would contribute a song (or songs) and then wait to see how much you get. I can see the eyebrows already. I don't have any experience in negotiating these matters so I'm not sure how this will be interpreted. It's a risk. That's all I can say at this point.

So, I'm gonna leave it at that and if you are interested in getting on board with this thing, please email me directly with any questions or whatever.

The producer has a website with a bit more info here:

Thanks!
