Just pottering my way to work this morning, going round "Queens Square" in Bath (probably doing all of ten miles an hour), then SLIP! "WTF?" =CRASH!= Sliiide...

I was most bemused! Fortunately, a very nice young lady offered me somewhere to sit down and a cup of tea.

Luckily, the rear brake lever took most of the pounding, (although it's been well bent...the rear sub-frame probably needs straightening too) and the right hand indicator's snapped off, but fortunately no more than that.

I'm fine apart from a rather bruised elbow & hip. My wallet's going to get a bruising too...

Upon inspection, there was a nice big splash of diesel right on the apex of the bend...there should be a law against lorries over-filling their tanks up! The stuff is bloody dangerous.

I was actually thinking that too, but alas, she has a fiancée...

I've got her email though...I'm going to drop her a "thank you" line.

Glad you survived (even with severely injured economy),had a similar experience a few months ago, when a young lady entering a roundabout near my home did not see that I was already in there, and sent me flying over her hood.

Didn't get anymore than a sore spot on the shoulder (glad I had my helmet tho!), bike only got a bend front gear wheel (it's pretty sturdy for a roadbike), the lady was shocked, came running out and was full of excuses, almost in tears, her boyfriend sat in the car the whole time looking as if I was the dreaded mother-in-law

Got her phonenumber, but decided to do nothing about it, eventhough I wouldn't have thought twice about taking his seat; she was too young for an old bugger like me

Cheers

Ouch! Push- or Motor- bike?

One of the worst ones I've heard of happened to my bike-mad friend Andy.

He'd pulled up at a roundabout, waiting to pull onto it, when SCREEEETCH! behind him; he got ploughed into from behind by a lady in a BMW which threw him of the bike, onto the roundabout straight into the path of a 18-wheeler articulated lorry: SPLAT!

Final Score
-----------
Lorry 1:0 Andy

Broken ribs, broken collar bone, broken wrist, bruised & cut all over, bike smashed to bits too. He wasn't too happy!

Those things are like aircraft carriers.

One thing that surprised me rather when I visited the States (as far as I understand it) is that there's no 'MOT' (or equivalent). The state of some of the vehicles people were driving around was absolutely shocking.

One of the top management people in the company I was doing some software work for arrived to work with a car which had obviously had a very intense conversation front-end-on with a lampost. "How can you drive that to work?" I enquired. "It still goes..." was his answer.

Eeek. I first read that as "Ricardo, worse than that sneaks down my alley everyday..."

Glad to hear you're OK and have a hot date too, Royston!

It's been a catalogue of disaster...

1. About a month after getting the bike, my boss reverses into it - CRUNCH *tinkle*

2. Next, it's ran into three more times in the car park of our other offices =BASH=

3. Then it's hit by a car WIHTOUT ANYBODY BEING IN THE CAR! =CRUNCH=

4. Then it's stolen & thrashed...it takes three months for the garage to remove their thumbs from their asses & fix it up

5. Then I lose concentration and chuck it into a ditch in Wales containing a brick wall - =SMACK= + fractured left hand

6. The most recent diesel-based episode of disaster depicted here

- - - -

Thing is, from owning bikes for some time now, it seems that I love bikes, but they don't seem to like me  Only one of the above incidents was me not paying attention, the rest is...fate?

Regardless, nothing could deter me from carrying on...when it's good, it's unbelievable.

FTW!
