OK I know this is a strange question but...
Do any of y'all know of any furniture stores in Amsterdam that sell new (*not* used / antique) furniture, and can deliver or ship to an apartment?
Alternatively are there any furniture stores that sell gift certificates?
I'd really like to get my sister (who lives in the 'dam) a bookshelf, but living 1/3 the way around the world makes things challenging...
Thanks all,
Johann

Hi Johann,
these people aren't based in Amsterdam, but inEindhoven, which is about a one hour drive fom A'dam http://www.antiek.net/antiekcentrum/
This shop is based in Benningbroek, 10mins away from where I live, 20 mins from Amsterdam: http://www.antiekdebeerenburght.nl/
Based in Blijswijk 45 mins from A'dam: http://www.de-koetsier-meubelen.nl/
And this is an Antique start page: http://www.antiqueholland.com/ with english text too !
finding one specific shop in Amsterdam is hell, no worries, since we live in a small country anyway, everything is close
cheers,
Ronald

Thanks guys.
Her birthday was a little over a week ago, but I'll certainly keep these places in mind for Christmas or whatever that holiday is with "Sinter Claus" (spelling?!??!?) on December 5th. You know, the Turkish guy who lives in Spain and comes to Holland on a steamship, and then slides down the chimney to leave presents in your shoes.
Ah, you Dutch folks are almost as strange as North Americans!
Cheers,
Johann

Uh, sorry, but... Leaving the Netherlands in December to go to Spain, travelling in a bag full of candy? Sounds good to me!The worst punishment is to be taken to Spain in "zwarte piet's" bag out of which the good children get the sweets (called "pepernoten", "taai-taai", or "schuimpjes") and presents.

Thanks for the primer Hubird! Cheers,
Johann
