Hi all
Just tidying up my system... anyone want to make a sensible offer for Solaris v2.1.1 (latest)?

geoffdavis99@yahoo.com

is my email... it is 200 eu new; then there is this 35 eu>>>
PlugIn Activation Transfer
for one PlugIn Art.No. MOP-97E1

Transferring the activation of one PlugIn from one card to one other card requires you to purchase this service item. Forward your email invoice to our support and they will perform this activation transfer for you.
<<<
What is that all about? This should take about 4 seconds.
Cash is best for this, Eu or US or Sterling, or UK cheque, no IMOs, I have 500 positives on ebay if you want to check me out as reliable (give name later).

A VERY NICE synth!!

it's the anoying process to completely brainwash the memory of your board, generate a new board ID and then provide new keys for all the devices you don't sell.
The process is spiced by a quid-pro-quo exchange of the information via email to guarantee you don't cheat
You may search under 'copy protection' here.

Obviously terms and conditions at Zarg have changed due to CWA's new key policy.
The RedDwarf doc explicetely excludes the key transfer to another board - the Solaris didn't come with such a note.
It's probably best to contact John Bowen in this case.

sorry for messing things, Tom

I suppose that all makes sense in the weird nether world of Creamware. But isn't this sort of thing done by a computer program? ie Creamware write a utility program that is run each time, sends out emails etc. I mean, if a person has to sit there and do all this, something is wrong. How does the internet work? Does someone send every packet on? I don't think so...

I think this is very restrictive, for instance I have 3 cards, however all the devices I have bought extra (quite a lot) are registered to one board; now if I want to split my system into 2 PCs, one for synths, one for recording, I have to pay out to CW to do it.

Which is annoying in principle, it is not the money. Also, CW support takes weeks to reply (if ever) so they can hardly claim their support is great.
And why all these annying DSP error messages on loading things in? There are stacks of problems with SFP, as everyone knows, they have a nerve to charge for moving software between cards.
IMHO, a lot of people on Creamware would switch if the resale wasn't so poor, or non-existent, we are locked in due to our huge investments. CW are very unprofessional systems, as you can tell by looking around these forums. If they are so great, how come professionals don't use them, and why are they never mentioned in the press?

Anyone looked up to see what is going on out there in the world of native and DSP cards recently? Technology has moved on.

yes, the protection is restrictive in some way - otherwise it wouldn't be a protection.

We all know about the war*z scene.
Either you want a solid protection or none at all.

CWA doesn't make a secret from the fact that the stuff is tightly coupled to a single board - and I really, really do appreciate their way compared to the latest challenge-response orgies in the native world.

Nevertheless it's a personal matter of taste what each one considers 'most appealing'.

cheers, Tom

Hi all
Solaris not for sale... I just bought a SCope professional, so have decided to hang on to synths while I redo all my tracks.
Interesting discussion though!
