Well where to start.

This almost deserves its own thread since this is sort of like a hijack at this point but anyways hehe.

I sold my moog a few weeks ago since I think the Minimax does a fine job of Moog emulation, I wouldnt say it can replace a moog entirely, but for me I just find the CW sound to be very pleasing a bit more sophisticated sounding and also much easier to work with than to deal with CV conversions and patching, so while I would say yes I think the CW gear stands up quite nice, there really is no 100% solution yet to abandon all analog outboard as of yet imo.

What I like about the creamware stuff is that it sounds so good compared to pure software VSTi's when you take the CW synths and combine them with outboard it sounds REALLY good, infact so good imo that you really couldnt tell the diference bewtween analog and digital at that point.

CW sysnths sound like outboard to me, so thats why these days many of my VSTi's arew collecting dust. I like to use the UKNOW and it does a fair job at emulating a 106, but I wont be selling my 106 anytime soon  and as for bass the only thing I have found that can even touch my SH101 is Flexor patches in Mod3, you can really make some amazingly (is that even a word) bass sounds with the flexor modules.

I guess what I am trying to say is, yes the CW devices sound incredible, and when mixed with analog gear they sound even better, nothing is an all in one solution, but if you can have em both or all, then it can be quite blissfull.

A prime example of CW devices mixed with analog devices is a track I uploaded in the music forum called " AP remix Never let me down (sense of reverence) ".

In this track is TONS of CW stuff and some alanog and digital outboard, lots of Prodessey, Pro-One stuff and SH101, Clavia Nord Lead2, Roland Super JV1080 and Flexor stuff.

Just to give ya an idea of what im talkin about.

Cheers!

Having never heard a minimoog, I've wondered how the miniscopes stand up, and whether the minimax is a world away from them...

Yeah, the more I learn about dance music production, the more that seems to be the case...

Definitely a release-worthy track. Probably the most thumping kicks I've heard through these monitors - will definitely have to re-check-out Aldern KickMe.

Can anybody give tips on recreating a hoover or reece type sound on a Nova? I would like to make the sort of hoovers that BK uses in his tracks, can this be done a newer synth or only on a juno? I have a A juno 1 but Its sold on ebay so I have to send it off, tbh I wasnt that impressed with it, but I think because the one I have has noisy oscillators and doesnt respond to midi properly maybe Ill get a mKS50 r.

Hey
I was searching the internet for some info of the hooverpatch. And here i found it (THANK YOU!). Im using Vanguard (www.refx.net) and it is excellent at things like a hoover.
Square (-12), saw+pwm, pulse+pwm. Viola! Uh, not a viola, but a hoover.

I used to own a nova before i went 100% software (a liebestraum-look on my face ). In order to create a hooverpatch on it i would recomend a square, one octave down, and a pulse with modulated width. Then use one of those dual saw as the third osc. Spread the detune wide (that will sound as close to the saw pwm as possible i think, perhaps use the sync and sync sqew). To make it fatter use it in unison mode. Some unoticeable chorus to make it wider is nice. Use the 24db lowpass filter to remove some of the top frequenses.
If you want me to, i can send an example to your email of how the saw pwm sounds. Its like pulspwm, but not as fat. More upper frequenses.
Checking my patch, the pwmlfo for the pulse was about 6-7hz and the pwmlfo for the saw wsa about 4hz. In other words, pretty fast for pwm.

Hope anything helped!

By the way the correct spelling is "Reese"
as in "Kevin 'Reese' Saunderson".

Gave up and got an MKS-50 (alpha juno 2 rack). Now I have a use for my creamware's D/A converters, running hoovers through creamware effects...woohoo!
