Pulsar I and Powersampler II - NO RESERVE

Dear Planet Z members,

I'm parting with my old boards, and it would make a good chance to pick up 7 DSP for very cheap. I'm selling the boards on Ebay with no reserve, and wanted to tip off anyone here who needs some more DSP for their Scope system.

Ebay link here

Thanks,

Chris

I need to sell my Creamware boards as I am now mostly working from a laptop/firewire system these days.

I would love to sell to an avid Creamware supporter, so I thought I would post on Planet Z first!

I have a Pulsar 1 and a Powersampler (7 total DSPs).

I would like to get $500 if possible ...

I shelled out for Kontakt and would definately say it is amazing compared to STS... You can do some freaky things modulating sounds with Kontakt!

Not sure how it would work if you don't have Cubase though...

cheers,

Thanks for the link Gary! I think that is a bit out of my meager budget, but it definately looks cool... I think the 10 meter cap they mention (30feet) should be enough for my needs though using the plastic stuff.

Thanks for reminding me to use metric! It would be easier if the US just bit the bullet and wne twith the rest of the world on this one...

I am indeed using the plastic toslink cables, and I think you can buy 10 meter cables, but i am not sure they'll work. I can, of course run long analog cables ...

This is super exciting! I am a gentoo zealot, but just bootstrapped my first OS and am not a true hacker so I can't actually help much with programming. I would be glad to assist with testing and debugging though.

Will Scope interface with Jack? ALSA? Maybe instead of shelling out for SX2, i'll ...

I have a friend who wandered around India with a sony MD recorder (the little square kind) and a $120 Sony stereo mike. The sound quality is actually very impressive! If you are looking for very portable field recording on a budget, MD is the way to go. I have seen MD recorders on ebay pretty cheap ...

If you don't have the special ethernet cable, it is much easier to run through a router if you have one... Otherwise follow their directions. I think you need to set up a workgroup in windows, and then enter it in OS-X too.

good luck.

Greetings,

In the midst of the version 4 feeding frenzy, I have a rather mundane question. How long of an ADAT cable will work with a pulsar card? I am eager to set up a basement bathroom vocal booth conversion (can you say amateur?) and would like to order the 50 foot hosa OPM-350 optical cables ...

Just want to verify that Gentoo linux runs beautifully on Mac hardware. It is a cool OS that can be compiled from the kernel up optimized on your particular machine. The implications this gives for speed and stability are obvious!

On the topic of STS, I gave up and am happy! Seriously, I bought Kontakt which is way easier to use than the clunky STS-5000, and sounds great in combination with my awesome CW synths...

Is anyone here using Bootmagic with 2 versions of XP? At least last year when I was setting up my old system, this program was unable to handle two copies of XP. It worked fine with one XP and 98 though.

You do need linux to get GRUB or LILO going, so that may not be an option if you don't use an ...

I noticed on the magma website that the 4 PCI slot PMCIA model has room for a HD in the enclosure. Has anyone tried putting an extra high RPM HD controller in the fourth slot for recording, or would that kill the pci bus?

I had horrible problems with powerquest and 2 boots of XP, I would avoid that company. I have a very stable tri-boot system with 2 versions of XP pro as well as Gentoo Linux. GRUB is a free boot loader that works great.

I just setup a new system based on Intel 875 mobo and it has been super smooth, easy, solid, and no snaps crackles or pops... I went for the stripped down board without onboard firewire or sound. It does have onboard LAN, USB 2.0, and integrated SATA.

$0.02:

1. USB 2.0/Firewire would be super cool. Just make sure it is easy to switch between systems, so we can use recording DAW at home and take the pulsar out with a laptop.

2. Open source SDK is a phenomenal idea!

3. whatever next gen DSP you use ...

just wanted to add more feedback that the Intel D875PBZLK has been rock solid, and speedy for me. I am using it with a WD 10000 RPM raptor for recording tracks, and it has been a beautiful change from my old rice crispy VIA board.
