is there really a downgrade of sound quality when recording audio tracks in cubase??if so how significant?

i agree with this theory, cause i just reinstalled windows sp3 to a sp2 version and my cpu was drastically lowered

I had to discard my type 1 cards because of this. Now I got it running with only type 2 cards but it took careful attention to slots and IRQ settings.
