Hi Pulsarians!

I've expanded my system by adding a Pulsar 2 to my
Luna 2 and Pulsar XTC.

Since that I have problems to start Cubase SX (1.05 and 1.06).
Before that it worked fine.
The following message appears when I start Cubase
and I can't choose the SCOPE Driver in SX:

"A capacity limit of your DSP cards has been reached.
The specific cause is: No DSP placement found!

It is often possible to solve this problem by means of
the global optimization of the project."

Has this to do with the XTCproject or is it an entry
in the cset.ini file?

Can anyone help please, because I want to continue
working with my XTC-Projects.

Spec.:

PCI1:Plusar2
PCI2:Pulsar XTC
PCI3:Luna2

Asus A7N8X
512 DDR
Matrox G550

usually this message is followed by an "ok" box which allows this process.the global optimization is just a dsp reloading and this usually happens when adding a large module to a large project.i suspect that if you have no irq conflicts that something in the sfp/cubase install has become corrupt.the first inclination would be to reinstall(over the old install)cubase and then sfp.kinda a shotgun approach....

I have had similar problems with my system when I bought a PowerPulsar and coupled it up with a Pulsar2. I would boot up and 10 minutes later would get a message "Unexpected DSP overload" or "communication has been lost with board1". After re-booting it would all work again, maybe for an hour, maybe for 5 minutes, maybe all day, it was very unpredictable.

After about 18 months of frustration I found out that the biggest card (most DSPs)has to go first in line (in the PCI slots) then the the next size and so on. This may be common sense but it caught me out (not the sharpest tool in the box I hear ou say)because I had bought and registered the Pulsar2 first (lots of Plugs as well) so I thought it would be a good idea to keep it as the first card. Now I have changed it round it is as solid as a rock.

My Pulsar 2 sits above my Power Pulsar and so I'm going to switch them around.
Is it simply a matter of swapping the boards over if they alreay share the same IRQ?

It's a line in your cset.ini. The manual has an explanation, and searching these forums should turn up more detailed info.
