Actually from what I can tell, it kind of reminds me of when emagic announced they are dropping Windows support, and I was forced to try out Cubase SX. I am so much better off now I can't thank them enough!

Actually, I was always quite suprised they didn't censor it. Sure, it broke constantly, and the search never worked, and it was terrible, etc, etc. But they never censored it as far as I know. At some times, probably half of the threads on that board were all about how bad CW sucks, and some of those threads got downright nasty.

But then, I guess that kinda shows just how little interest they had in it at all.

This kind of forums, with people telling everything is wrong, reminds me the biginning of the Z itself, were there were so many people complaning out of their own incapability of fixing their systems... The time gave me the reson, that most of the problems had by all those people alwyas complaining, was LACK OF KNOWLEDGE about their own system.

Obviously Nestor *never* owned a Pulsar I running on Windows 95 with Pulsar 1.0 GUI!!!!

Furthermore, I hardly think that someone who asks the question "What is Firewire?" has a right to complain about other peoples "lack of knowledge"!

In any event the CW forum never really took off and doesn't look like it will even though they asked us to join it. I don't see a need for it.

you may be right about what nestor never owned,but he wasn't COMPLAINING about others' lack of knowledge about their systems.he was stating fact.a lot of people's problems are caused by their lack of knowledge and to that i'd add cracks.

I agree with Gary. And Nestor too. I`m one of those who have a great lack of knowledge about MY soundcard.. So much to learn, so little time...

One thing to note though:

The current amount of knowledge about how to get a Creamware card working didn't come out of nowhere. Today we know quite a bit more than 2 years ago. Also more chipset makers apear to have learned to make usefull PCI communication. And I believe that the Creamware software has matured quite a bit too.


But I did see the bad tendency in the old Creamware forum, witch was:

Call it shit! Don't ask, when you can complain and make others help you that way. If it doesn't work, it is definitely the hardware.


Personally I do not like the attitude, where people call something shit, and then expect others to help them find out, why it isn't shit. It just creates a bad atmosphere. Therefor I do not try to help those people - my time is better spend other places then - like here, where people mostly come with a better attitude - also the new Creamware forum has improved quite a bit over the old one in the way people write.

yeah,if i was a programmer and i read the old forum,i wouldn't do SHIT for those guys.......

Hi all, I have solved so many problems in my system because of those who use this forum. I am running an archaic computer(2 1/2 years old) with the "bad" VIA chipset. I do still have some minor problems but they are rare due in part to helpful advice from the planet Z community & my own experiments & research. In fact, I've never had to solicite advice from the creamware tech support because of this forum. I bet they like planet z almost as much as the users do!!! If youve posted advice in the problem solving section, pat yourself on the back.

Ohhh well… I know I’m an ignorant… that is way I’m here… learning.

Actually they do love this forum at CW. CW tries their best but they are understaffed. I just wonder why they bother to have a forum at the CW site.

I haven't used the CW forums for a least 4 years now, I don't think I need to go there having the Z, here is so much better and faster... At least, this is what I remember. In a sense, this Forum is helping Creamware in many ways, cos it's free, and there is real interest, genuine interest I mean.

That's so true, and I have made a few posts on thier forum stating just that. They don't have the bandwidth or staff to handle forums or serving up thier software for downloads, yet they do it anyways. There are lots of third-party places out there that can handle that junk. (i.e. FilePlanet) They could save a lot of money, time, and face if they would outsource the right stuff. I guess they just must have someone in house who fancies himself a web developer and wants to fiddle around and take ownership of it.

Regarding the "lack of knowledge" thing: I've actually found that some people who have a little knowledge can be far more dangerous hehe. One thing I've seen, though, time and time again, is that the people with the most trouble are the ones who went the way of the expert (less expensive hardware and self-built pc's, then trying "non-acpi" installs right from the start) without actually being an expert, then blamed the hardware. If they'd only just spent a little extra money (a better quality motherboard, for example) or gone the easier way first, they woulda saved themselves a lot of trouble.

cw's forum is almost unusable.

I disagree. The new forum is actually ok. It is not very bussy yet, but there is more staff activity, and the atmosphere is better.

Well, you're probably right, but I was talking of a forum I haven't visited for 4 years, so things may have changed a lot... and I'm glad to here they have.

I have not visited this new one, I'll do one of those days...

What really freaks me out are those yahoo groups of which there is a Pulsar group. That place made my brain hurt.

It amazes me how much venemous hatred there is about things that no one takes the time to understand, be it Creamware products or social issues.
