This has been discussed a million times now, but I don't seem to get it right.
I have a CW card, digital mixer and a synthesizer that has ADAT out (and word clock in ) connector. Problem is, how do I sync these. I know all the basics (just one master, other slaves)
Pulsar seems to sync (as slave) automatically using just ADAT connection, without sync plate (either to synth as master or mixer as master). So, if I have only two devices, no problems.
But the mixer seem not sync using just ADAT connector. And if I set mixer as master, and wire word clock to synths WC in, it doesn't work

)
And when I put all three machines, I have no idea how to set the wires. Should I hace BNC "cycle" or use two separate cables. Or make an "ethernet-like" connection using terminators. I have sync plate also.
Could somebody make this simple, thanks

Well adat of mixer is out,so Pulsar can slave to that(set mixer as master)but the mixer can only be set to slave for wordclock.This means you need a syncplate or A16 which has wordclock,or anythink linked to pulsar with wordclock.

Mixer has both ADAT in and ADAT out (and I use both of them).
Mixer can only slave to word clock? Why does it have Word clock out then?
I have sync plate, but the problem is, how do I connect all these devices.

Sorry misread.
I had same prob with syncplate.The pulsar card your syncplate is set too,as master in panel,will use the syncplate as master or slave.So if you want syncplate as master,set pulsar card as master,if you want it as slave set mixer as master.Synplate should tell which is in and out.

Still, the problem is, how do I connect all these devices.
As I said, I don't have problems syncing mixer to pulsar (or vice versa) but how to sync all three devices?

Syncplate -> T-connector/Mixer -> Synth.
What kind of synth is it ?
(Most synths with adat out I know off only runs @ 48KHz, except Noah...)

Thanks for your help! Do I need use those terminators used in computer networks?
The synth is Alesis QS 8
it can sync to
* internal 44.1
* internal 48
* external 44.1
* external 48

I don't know if the QS8 has an internal terminator or not ?
If it doesn't, you need one...

I'm giving up. No matter how do I set the cables and which device is master, I'm not getting any decent results.
The best result is when mixer and scope are synced (no matter which is master) and synthesizers is it's own master (the same clock rate of course). Believe it or not, this is giving the best results!
Of course, there some clicks and pops every now and then but a tleast I don't hear AWFUL noise and the sound is in tune (which it isn't if I try to sync the synth to external clock...)
Time to forget fucking digital connections.

Are the adat out of the QS8 connected to the mixer or the Pulsar card ?

Word clock:
[Terminator - T-connector]------ [T-connector]-------------[syncplate]
synth--------------mixer WC out--------------------scope
synth ADAT OUT -> mixer ADAT IN (a)
mixer ADAT OUT x2 -> Scope ADAT IN x2
Scope ADAT OUT -> mixer ADAT IN (b)

Problem solved. Another happy Jupiter8 customer.

jupiter, you could have posted the solution. It is:
Use only ADAT sync. Set synth as master, mixer syncs to synth. And finally, Scope syncs to mixer. Great. Thanks Jupiter!
PS. If any DDX3216 user is having problems with syncing mixer to ADAT signal, it only syncs to first ADAT port (that is, ADAT in 1-8)

Have'nt you heard the expression: suspension beyond belief.

I thought i'd get you the pleasure of delivering the good news.
I did'nt think anyone would believe i actually solved anything.
