I recently bought PowerPulsar, so I'm still new to the environment. Using PIII and Windows XP. Currently wondering what MIDI-interface to invest in. My plan for usage is this; 3 external keyboards to be used for live playing of Pulsar soft-synths AND for playing "eachother" ( i.e MIDI-merging and good routing possibilities a MUST ). For example: KeyBoard1 playing sounds from STS3000 layered with sounds from KeyBoard2. SysEx transfer without disconnecting/reconnecting physical cabels is also important.

I was thinking of getting a MIDISPORT 4x4 since my budget is getting quite strained, meaning that I don't wanna be spending (for now) more than about 300$ if I don't REALLY REALLY have to...

My main concern after reading a lot of postings here is ; Will I be able to use SFP routing with any external MIDI interface, or did CW just intentend this routing to be for audio?

If I must, I could use CubaseSX for live playing as "help", but I'd rather not if given a choice.

Did any of this make sense to anyone?

Anyway I hope someone with experience and/or good ideas in the area takes pity on a poor newbie and helps out...

Yeah, the midisport is a good choice...

I use the 2x2... Internal routing of midi ports to SFP ports is not directly supported, but i use the free MIDI-OX software to route and merge and split any midi ports or channels (soft or hard) to any midi, including midi ports from my 2x2 to creamware midi port and also vice-versa.

Midi sysex is not a problem with the 2x2, and anyway, the midi-OX software have facility for this internaly...
