This is a song I posted before with Miriam, however it has gone through many changes, so here it goes again.

The song is trying to descripe the change from cocoon to butterfly.

This is the most demanding song I have ever worked with, and I've only reached 1.st refrain.

I would like your comments, course I'm so in doubt...

Excellent track, it evolved towards something wider and elevating! Very rich textures and the voice is getting more assurance. You'll probably find me quite stubborn, but if the singers starts every single sentence on the first time of a measure, it creates a very redundant and static effect. Maybe that's what you want to create? In this case, it could be very interesting to have the highest peak of the vocal part starting on the anticipation (8th before the first beat) to create an ecstatic and unique moment which will differentiate itself and powerfully stand out from the rest of the tune. In any case, imo the voice must part from the already established rythmic patterns to some degree so it can have a personality of its own and rise up above the rest of the music. If it doesn't, it gets somewhat dull and lacks character, because too predictable. That's my years of experience at song writing which taught me this and if you listen to all the good songs, the lyrics start after the first down beat almost all the time. Why? Simple: because the drums, bass, synths and other stuff punch already on the first time and the voice has to fill up where there is room to do so. I'm not saying that you should do this, but if you totally ignore this principle, the voice will "lie down" on the rythm section without ever rising or standing on its own. And why be content with good when it can be great? Truly, this song can make you known around the world, imo.
And the rising string-like sound leading to a climax is very effective! Keep up the good work!

This is only what first came into my mind while listening to this fine piece of music.

I think you have succeeded in a very interesting intro. It managed to give me the chills - You can't argue with that
And now the but....
The bass-part introduced at 1.20 doesn't seem as strong as the intro. But it is hard to judge without the rest of the song. Still I would say that it would do better with a more "inspired" bassline.

Great piece of production from our planetz triphop expert. And agree with petal on the bass - try to look for a more interesting line after the intro part. Good luck (also in getting a deal!)

I find the bass line efficient at this point of the tune. Maybe just to add slight glissando to make it more expressive could help. To have the bass make some fills later on would be appropriate though. This tune is rich man! The voice must lift it to a climax that's for sure! Have you thought of doubling and tripling the voice track to thicken it? Voice harmonies would be awesome as well!

Eliam: I see your points very clearly, though I have this sligth problem that this woman is totally untrained singerwise, and a bit of a princess. Following your advice from earlyer, I tried to have her sing "not" on the downbeats, but wow, I found out that I'm working with an VERY emotional artist. She can't really do things twice, and don't even get me started with vocal harmonies. It's a no-no... She just isn't in position to do that.

I also have to say that she couldn't sing to the actual arrangement (she sang out of tune, although she likes it alot), so the vocal take is done with me on acustic guitar and her singing, nothing else.

I agree on the bass part in the bridge, I had allready replaced that before I read your comments, too the refrain is ofcourse totally deffrend. Later on is some great heavy jungle part, but we might skip it, course it's a bit out of context. (sounds awesome, though)

But, man, this is such a slow process, course I feel I have to reevent the deep plate everytime. It's more like a great production, but the SONG is missing.

Anyway, eliam, I'm glad for your strong believe in this song.
