Martin
_____________________________________

I was recycling some tape loops I had made a looooong time ago. These loops were made with the technique Brian Eno and Robert Fripp used, 2 Revox's yada-yada, only I sang the notes.

I have been recording all this old music into my computer and getting the tape hiss out with Cool Edit Pro.

Since my internet computer was out-of-order I thought "Hmm, what can I do to make these hours more interesting?"

Well, I took those tape loops and ran them through TS-AudiotoMidi Realtime Converter(freeware), took the resulting MIDI file and assigned the notes to diverse instruments, including the Prisma and Avalon Euro v.1.5.

Lots of processing later I came up with a full album of ambient music.

Enjoy

audio to MIDI.. I always wanted to try out that program. Just can't find the time to fully explore it. I've an idea to pass my Er-hu through it and use the data to control strings sounds...

Great shimmery texture on the pad-ish sounds by the way. Is it a combination of the 2 synths? Or just one synth in particular? (I need to get it)

The shimmer is created by applying the Mod-delay in Logic. It's kind of a combination flanger-chorus. And yes, the base sound is a combination of a patch I made in the Avalon Euro and a marimba sample.
