I connected my Fatar SL-880 to the Luna MIDI In. I don't hear anything when playing the instruments in GigaStudio. How can I get the MIDI Controller to work?

-> prepare your lunaproject containing at least one midi in, midi out, sequencer in, sequencer out; connect them in right order.
-> launch a sequencer yiou use and do as you do always.


To be able to use luna midi ins and outs you have to run a sequencer. I don't know if giga studio is such software (didn't even see it). If it works like a sequencer or something has midi ins and outs you should now be able to use yur luna midi i/o with it. Just be sure to have a proper luna project. In the midi properties of your soft you should now see midi ins and outs.

Luna MIDI A -> Sequencer Dest 1 (this is your midi input in your sequencer)

Sequencer Src 1 -> Any synth or device inside SFP

This is to address a device in sfp using a midi channel . There are 16 channels per sequencer src/dest.

Add more sequencer src in SFP if you need more than 16 channels.

Luna MIDI A Source (representing the hardware midi in plug) gets connected to 'Sequencer midi destination' (the software midi port) and appears in Giga as 'Creamware Midi In'.
Your project should contain a 'GSIF source' connected to mixer and/or anything for audio output or recording (normally some ASIO channels).
You can have multiple connections to several destinations on the outputs of any device, btw.
That's all to play the keyboard with Gigasamples.
The 'sequencer midi source' isn't necessary for Giga (afaik) itself.
It's generally used to transmit midi events of a sequencer track to a synth in SFP.
If you record midi events to play back Giga samples the routing depends on your setup.
Check out the doc about the differences between midi hardware and software ports.
It can be confusing in the beginning due to the similiar naming, but it's no big deal

héhé one minute appart...

I tried everything, but the Midi Controller doesn't work. On my previous soundcard the Midi Controller always worked.

Try inserting a MIDI Monitor device in SFP project an connect it to LUNA MIDI Src A

See if there is incomming midi data.

If yes, then connect the LUNA MIDI Src A to Sequencer Dest 1...
THEN open Giga, and set it up to use Creamware midi 1 as input....

Check in giga if you are still received midi stuff...


If you get midi in in the midi monitor, your problem is in your software (giga) if not, check midi cable... It is really plugged? In the luna Input and not output?

I connected the LUNA MIDI Src A to the Monitor. There was incoming data, so I connected LUNA MIDI Src A to Sequencer Dest 1 and then I started GigaStudio. But I hear no sound from GigaStudio and also not from Cubase SX when I play the Midi Controller. Maybe my Midi Controller is defect? How can I see if it's defect?

Giga may still use the settings of your previous soundcard.
You have to set the output driver in Giga's config to 'Creamware multichannel' AND have a GSIF source in the SFP project connected to the mixer to hear something.
For simplicity you should check the controller with a simple SFP synth.
It's very very unlikely your controller is broken.
