I just bought the vintage EQ from Timeworks and

I'd like to know if anyone has found the same bugs:

- bad distortion when high shelving ca. 2000HZ and below with + 12db (no it's no normal distortion, it doesn't depend on input - try it out!)

- bad distortion when peaking some frequencies with lower Qs and +24 db (not only at +24db)(No it's not a normal overload it depends arbitrary on some positions)

- other distortion problems like that at specific parameters. The value seems suddenly to jump...

O.K.
KimGR explained it to me. It's not a bug, it's a known limitation. Nothing to do.

would you say it limits the use of this eq or are these just very extreme settings you wouldn't normally use?
I'm asking since I'm about to buy it as well.

I've used this for 18 months now. It can be quite sensitive with the low frequencies but usually it only distorts when you push something too hard. I love it!!!:)

I've been using the demo for a bit and I'm very impressed indeed. This is almost certainly going to make my music sound better. I love how you can just lift the presence of a sound by softly nudging up the high shelf, and you can do some amazingly smooth sounding hi-/lo-cut filtersweeps as well. And whatever you do, it sounds musical (within limits of course, I did run into those nasty distortion settings) Really cool stuff.

Here's part of the reply I send to MCCYRANO, trying to explain why it's possible to overload the VintagEQ algorithms:

The problems you mention are not really considered as bugs, but more of a design limitation:

As you've noticed, the VintagEQ can indeed be "overloaded" at extreme settings, but if that was to be avoided we would have to sacrifice the sound quality.
It has to do with bit resolution. You need headroom to avoid overflows, but if you set more bits aside for headroom, you have less bits available to do the actual eq'ing...
