This transmission is dedicated to the brave crew and the families of the space shuttle Columbia.
Welcome to the final transmission from the logbook of „Starchaser“.
Due to the fact that we are now in deep space, and nearly out of range, we have had to shorten this transmission to 8 Mins 24 Seconds and it is 7,877Mb in size.
One of our first tasks upon leaving Earth was to despatch a pod containing a Mobile Observer Unit (MOU) to the surface of Mars. The mission of the MOU was to ascend the highest mountain in our Solar System – Olympus Mons, which is 27Km high and is situated in a barren, dusty, rocky and eerie volcanic region of Mars.
The climb put quite a strain on the MOU and at the summit it released jets of steam, and we are proud to say, the first droplets of water to touch the surface of Mars for millions of years.
The MOU should continue to transmit pictures to you for many years to come.
Tell us what you see when you look at the transmitted video footage, because we had to leave, just as it went out of our sight down the other side of the mountain.
We hope you enjoy our final transmission. We may return to our Solar System in the future.
If we do, and you want us to look at some more moons and planets, please let us know. We will look out for your transmissions and transmit our findings back to you should we return.
We would especially like to thank Gustav, the oldest member of our crew, for providing the inspiration for this track. Once we got him out of cryogenic storage and got his medication balanced he made quite a contribution. Does anyone remember his last name?
