This gives me a hint of what it could be the next generation, we’re going to get mad instruments… What I’m waiting for, is the creation of a technology capable of doing with audio, most of the things you can do with midi, THIS would be THE discovery… And I think the power computers will have in a couple of years or so, will give audio this new possibilities, which will end up taking an important space in the new music-technology world.

what are you talking about ?
the most foolish market entry of the year
it won't succeed:
expensive, unergonomic, any rackbased CPU could do at least the same and if one part fails you're stuck with your beauty.
Not all that glitters is gold...

cheers, Tom

Computers bomb. I'll bet this doesn't bomb.

They say you have the choise which OS you can install, but if only they had a dedicated DAW OEM version OS, that could make it worth the effort...

John Cooper:

Maybe I spoke too soon. I should have said being a totally dedicated computer it would be less likely to crash (I think), also the Linux version might not crash. Yes?

I don’t think it is a bad instrument, it sure it’s a good thing. The problem is that being a keyboard with such components in board, hummm it’s a bit scary to me.

I mean, if it has common computer items, it has to be rather fragile for handling, travelling, etc. And if it is a keyboard to have it in a studio, I don’t see the point of buying something like that, when you can do everything, and MUCH more, with a computer, a SCOPE and a MIDI keyboard. This is the point.

Question: whom is this instrument direct to?

I see a point to it. It would take a load off your computer so that your computer can do more of other things.

this thing really is just a PC in a fancy box, running windows or linux. there is no reason to expect it to be any more stable than a standalone pc running the same software. sure, they'll have a known hardware config, which is great for driver stability, etc, but still there's no way to fully test a system which allows 3rd party software to run on it. one day you'll install one too many bad vst plugins, and everything will die, just like a normal pc

don't get me wrong, i still think it's a cool idea- not having to carry around a PC along with your midi keyboard. but i think that's really the only benefit. curious to see at what price they release it.

I surely wouldn't want to be the first one to buy it but I would be very curious about it. Of course the price will drop. The technology in my Yamaha VL70-M module was once $4,000 in an earlier keyboard over 10 years ago. The VL70-M is around $600 now.

I was waiting to find the info but I didn't find it : where is the mouse on that synth ? there no room for placing a mouse on the keyboard. Very bad for them if they forgot this.... How can they imagine that it is easier, to use a laptop tactil control for a musician ?? it's funny how good ideas can be wasted by unsufficient designs....

If it has USB you can add a USB mouse.

yeah but it would have to be optical to use it on your jeans  no room on the synth surface.... but i was cruel, it's a good idea this eko thing.

What I can see in here is that the forum has given us some objectivity and sound criticism through the time, and this is a good thing. Nobody can sell us something we know it will not work. This is something of the past.

I prefer trackballs anyway, maybe there's space to glue one on.
