This is part of the patchmaker project...
It seems that you can't input anything into the category field except the predefined names
But in the manual it says: "You can arrange presets or banks by number, name, author, date or description by clicking on the respective heading at the top of the appropriate column."
Page 24 in the "program" pdf even has a nice little picure showing the fields.
The only things in my columns are No, Name and Category. How do you get the author field into the list so you can do a sort ?
Even better would be the ability to add entries to the category field. Has anyone tried that ?

Add to cset.ini:
[PresetInfo]
Author=[username]
It can also be set in XTC mode (that's when i discovered it), when clicking on the XTC symbol of an XTC device.
To view author in presets list:
left-click and drag to top, the bar sitting just above the lower edge of the preset list.
Each author is stored inside a preset, and get's carried along, with preset type, preset name, date of creation and device parameters.
Yuo cannot sort by author.
This far i don't know how to edit the lower item in description list, also called 'Description'.

Amazing Atomic - anything you don't know

?
But this only shows you the info panel right ? The one that lists type, name, category, author, creation date and description... You can't actually get the author field into the main preset list.
And unless something changed in 3.1c you should be able to sort by author - well at least the manual says so. Am I foolish to believe in manuals ?
I *KNOW* I've seen preset lists with the authors listed AND had the ability to sort by author. I remember doing it with Lightwave (I think) and wondering about the names of some of the patchmakers.
The other option would be to widen the "name" field so that you had enough characters to write a name and author. I don't suppose that option is hidden in some miraculous location you know about

Cheers
I can confirm your statement from the configuration.pdf manual, p.21. But I don't think that right top corner paragraph is right.
If you remember which synth -I'd be surprised- that could sort by name, please let me know!

I wasn't crazy ! I booted up version 3.01 and there they are sort by anything you like. The name sticks on reload too.
Either some default setting is changed in 3.1c or they took away that functionality.
But data entered in the name field in 3.01 is simply shunted into the "info" field in 3.1c. Curses
