does anyone have a simple explanation on how to use the vocoder III.
i know that audio goes into Aln and synth into Sln, with compression on each source but all i get is an extremely weak signal and the voice is drowned in the synth. not at all that detailed clean robot voice i'm after, like the one on sandrobs' song here:

It's pretty straight forward.. you've got most of it right I think... perhaps you need to fiddle with the synth signals? Try just a plain pulse wave. Just one osc. That may yield clearer results than you may think. I just tried with bluesynth, using Vocode's default preset and it worked just fine.
You may want to highpass the synth sound a bit, if you get a "boomy" sound. If the words aren't clear, try adding another pulse an octave higher. If that's not enough, try sync. The point is, you want LOTS of high harmonics.

You just need to set the Voiced/Unvoiced threshold to suite your signal. It's just a gate I think. I have no idea what the Histerisis is. Also, don't set the Q too high. 1.X should be enough.

Also, try overdriving the voice material. That way, you can level it, plus increase high harmonics to make the words more clear. Works sometimes for me.

I hardly trust the built-in compressors of the vocoder, so I usually rout 'smoothing' effects to the incoming signals *before* connecting them to the Vocoder. I also rout both the Synth and the Vocals to the mixer for referance. That's how I make sure the signals I'm sending to the vocoder are at optimum state.

The richer the synth's harmonics, the better the results will be, and solid levels of both inputs are a must.

I FIND THE Vocoder bullshit because you need to much inventions for it,i mean the Vocodizer really help you in short time.

well.... to be honest i still haven't got it working, i tried some really harmonic loaded synth sounds together with pretty amplified and compressed vocals but all i get is the synth.
of course i can hear that the character of the synthsound has changed a bit but the human "pronunciation" is barely there.
so if anyone have a clue, like advise in which synthsound i ought to use together with which vocoder III preset......

I used the vocoder patch in the modular III last night. It worked flawlessly and right away. The presets are great.

can you post an example of your failed attempt? I might be able to give you more pinpoint tips that way.
