Hey guys,

Is anyone out there successfully working with the syncplate??? I'm using LAP 4.7, Scope/SP (or Pulsar 2.04), and trying to figure out how to sync well with my adat.

Seems like no matter what i try with VRC, the ADAT always gets hung. I wonder if I have a defective syncplate, or just don't know how to use it correctly - I know that it's wired up correctly.

What i wanna do is to transfer a bunch of tracks from ADAT to HD, and it seems like i should be able to have Pulsar slaved to the ADAT at 48k, and have Logic start recording, sync'd to the ADAT at some tape offset, so that the HD files start precisely at the right position on the tape.

Otherwise, I guess i just do this unsync'd, hit record in logic, play on the ADAT, and deal with chopping off the dead space at the beginning of every track (pain in the ass).

Also, of course, I'd like to be able to track to the ADAT, using Logic's transport controls, so that I could have tape tracks correctly sync'd to logic tracks. I used to do all this beautifully in cubase with the Steinberg Adat control interface box, but since I switched to Logic, etc, I'm stuck.

I have the same setup as you and have done many successfull transfers:
I use the Adat as master, witch means that the sync-source has to be the syncplate in Scope, not the Adat input. You then take the MTC output from the "syncplate source" and cable it to "seq.midi destination" and slave Logic to MTC. That's it. I has always worked on my system, as soon as I discovered that Scope has to slaved to SyncPlate

If you want Logic to be the master, I think you have to use the VRC128 to convert MTC to AdatSync...

Sorry to labor the point, but could i bother with a few more setup details?

In the real world, adat sync out to syncplate sync in (top connector) and adat sync in to syncplate sync out (bottom connector).

In the project - syncplate source wired to seq dest.

The part i'm not sure of: how to set up the sync settings in logic. how do you specify which port to listen on, etc. it's very different from my old setup with cubase + ACI...

Then how do start the recording? are you using Logic's transport controls, or the ADAT's? Say my song, recorded previously in cubase with ACI, starts precisely at 00:03:00, and i want to transfer those tracks...

What I'm confused about is that with the steinberg ACI, it always required both adat sync in and out to be connected, and it had very tight lock with the sequencer. i'm not sure, with the syncplate, if it's paying attention to both ports, even tho you only have a syncdest OR a syncsource loaded. IOW, when using sync source, i don't know if the logic transport MTC stuff gets sent to the ADAT or not! too bad there's no decent doc on this sync stuff!

ohhhhhhhhhh, i see.
you have to set slave to "Ext ADAT" in the samplerate window, instead of the associated ADAT source. jeez, what a kludgey interface!

ok, so now it works well for moving tracks from adat to logic. now i have to figure out how to do tracking to ADAT, controlled from logic's transport. i guess using VRC as you suggest?

Yes, you can slave VRC to MTC...
