Having read the looong list of questions I posted yesterday in a thread called PowerSampler 1 questions I thought it would be easier to read/reply if I split all those questions into shorter, more relevant posts 
Do I have to load SFP and set up its routing just to use PS1 as a standard Windows soundcard to play Windows system sounds, .wav player/recorder, mp3 player etc. etc?
Can the PS1 be used as a standard Windows soundcard in this way?
In Control Panel/Sounds & Multimedia/Audio I see two choices for Sound Playback & Recording - Creamware Play/Rec 01 and 02.
Am I right in thinking that Play/Rec 01 would select the analogue In/Out and Play/Rec 02 would select the SP/DIF In/Out?
If I select either and click on Volume it gives the error "There is a problem with your sound hardware. You may install mixer devices from the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard in the Control Panel"
If I click Advanced I get another error "DirectSound settings not available"
Either way I get no standard Windows mixer available nor Volume Control in the Tool tray.
I guess no mixer appears because it wants to use its own in SFP so that might be the answer to my first question above!
Any hints and advice would be most welcome.
