Here is some informations given by phone by the support team :
- Development team works on the v3.2 of SFP (release 1st Quater of 2003). This includes a huge amount of fixes...
- Development team works on a more recent version of the DSP (4 times faster than the actual one). New boards are planned for 2004.
- Less than 20% of the customers are professional musicians, so Creamware focus on the high end home studio market. "If you want a professional system have a look at Protools." End of citation...
- No support for Dolby encoding system/module in future (Licences are too expensive).

Funny, no mention of a tripleDAT upgrade. Ingo has already let the cat out of the bag on that one.

I wouldn't expect anyone at CW on the phone telling details 'by accident'.
All pretty obvious stuff: of course they are working on fixes (who doesn't ?), a Dolby license is expensive and not every owner of a CW board owns a studio or goes gigging with the thing.
They sell out like hell, so that 2004 date for new boards might be just another 'buy it now - it will be good for at least one year !' push of sales figures.

Given the problems and uncertainties in the past few months with Emagic, Steinberg, Clavia and now Sonic Foundry, I'm thinking "no news is good news" for Creamware.

Seems there's a big shake-out happening n the digital audio market. Let's hope Creamware continues to be immune from the angst.

SoFo have been in serious financial trouble for a while. They cut staff and sold some assets, but are still making a loss.

They are attempting to change their focus into the corporate and government market and have some start-up products that they're hoping will take off over the next year.

Their CEO made an announcement in the past few days saying there would be a significant sale of assets and that an announcement would be made in about 60 days.

The speculation on the SoFo forums is that the core audio products Acid, SoundForge and VegasVideo will be sold.

Needless to say there has been a lot of heated debate and speculation over there and today SoFo deleted most of the threads citing "personal attacks" as the reason.

I'm a big SoFo user and fan so I'm worried too. If the core products are sold then I hope at least someone picks them up who's prepared to continue development and stay in the pro & semi-pro market.

The audio industry news this year has, I think, been very bad.

So I'm very happy that Creamware seems free of the turmoil.

Maybe Pinnacle/Steinberg will buy the whole stuff ?

In the end Yamaha will own everything
