I intended this to be just a joke.. well, it turned out just a little more than that. But anyway, don't take this as a proper entry. I like my other tune better.

Remember the good old 8 beat techno pop? Remember the days when the most accessible composition tool was either Fast Tracker or some sort of MOD tracker? Remember the PC demo scene? If you know what I'm talking about, you'll LOVE this piece.

PS.. supposed to be a joke, but I did use some juice toward the end. Done with CW version of Bluesynth. Man, it sucks.

I was trying to make the first half "very poorly produced" sort of... I started working with the kicks totally messed up with the sort of comp you'd expect from a newbie. But then, I gave up on that idea and re-EQ, re-comped everything so atleast it was listenable. But yeah, I really like the retro feel of this track.

This track reminds me of a track from the 80's, especially the first half of this track, but I'm not quite sure which - Kim Wilde comes into mind....?

Anyways you really caught that sound of the 80's - Don't take this personally, but I'm glad we made it through the 80's - The 90's were so much more interesting music-wise IMHO.

Cheers!

Maybe this should go in general discussion but... Petal, the 70's were definitely and by far better than both the 80's and 90's put together. Musicians actually PLAYED their instruments back then and with both hands to boot!( Now it seems only DJ's use both hands)

I like these cutsy tracks we get to compose every once in a while Ken, don't you?

Yeah Paulrmartin

You maybe right in that the musicians played their instruments live - And also that the 70's were more interesting than the 80's - But so many things happened in the 90's that deserves not to be overlooked.
For the first time in history, it became economical possible for the average student (like myself) to play and produce my own tracks in my bedroom - and that in an almost ready-to-realease quality.
This aspect of the new technology (and the Internet) took the power from Music-fabrics and gave it back to the musicians. It became possible to experiment for real again, and new genre's unfolded and made the music interesting again, instead of just being a mediocre product for the masses.
I'd choose the 90's over the 80's anytime - I'm not sure I wanted to miss the early 70's though, but that wouldn't be because of the music

Have to say that I laughed for the first 20 seconds or so. Especially that cornball drumbeat at the beginning

Flashes of bad early madonna, ABC, erasure, and other awful 80's tunes.

However, Ken, you're too talented to make crap, and even this, intended to be a joke, shows your skill at crafting a composition, even when the foundation is made of pure schlock.

The beginning sounds almost 1:1 Human League from Dare LP (I'm almost sure in the first song). Yeah - the end sounds like ABC. It reminds me times when I was the 'new romantic' fan - Human League (Reproduction), Ultravox (Rage in Eden), Depeche Mode (Coinstruction Time Again) etc... Hmmmm
