I'm about to install pulsar II+ (12DSP's)
on my G4 mac.

any other users with mac?
How well does it behave?

any help appreceated

I have a Macintosh G4, 400 Mhz with a Pulsar 1 + a Pulsar II SRB (10 DSPs). I run Pulsar 2.041 (this includes an update from the Creamware Website especially for Mac). There have been some PCI Bus troubles with high end Macintosh, i.e. 733 Mhz, but the update on their website fixes that. My system runs very well with only the occasional error message. I can work on projects for several hours at a time. Unfortunately, I get about a crash per day because of Pulsar. If there is an error message my usual way of fixing is to restart the computer.

One problem you might have is a corruption of the "cset.ini" file which you will find in the Apps folder in Pulsar. Save a copy of the uncorrupted file somewhere and when Pulsar just won't behave at all you replace it with the pristine copy of "cset.ini". You'll have to make your preference settings all over again in Pulsar but everything should work after that.

To check whether the "cset.ini" is corrupted or not, change it's name to "cset.txt" and open it up. If there's endless amounts of gobbledygook text unrelated to anything in Pulsar it's become corrupted.

Pulsar isn't perfect yet, but it's getting there and you will have tons 'o fun. Good luck.

hello,i make run pulsar1 with a vst5 under os8.6 on a g3 blue 350mhz/384mo.
Since i have put 200mo for vst5 my computer don't crash anymore.Pulsar1 is stable and i can work.
I think i gonna take more ram cause actually i am discovering rebirth and when i make run vst+plugins,pulsar and rebirth i have some problems with "only" 384mo.
that's all i can say cause for other functions i am not really a specialist.

Hi. I run a Pulsar II on a Mac G4/400 576 mb together with Logic. It runs like a dream and crashes at the most once a month. I dont remember when i had a crash last !!!

The downside is you don't have the PCI performance that some PC computers have but that is only a problem if you want to run lot's of reverbs.
And my STS 4000 does'nt work properly but hopefully they will fix that soon.

Hello u all MAC users, I am a new
Pulsar II owner. Runs Mac G4 450 with 640 RAM os 9.1
I like the system a lot but I have some Q.

1: How do I thru asio make the Pulsar
sound thru VST 5.
I do something wrong. Directly from the
synths and sampler I drag the out cable
in to the Asio 1,2 ,3 4, 5 and so on.....
In VST 5 I must recordenable the channels to hear anything ???
I dont think I doin this right.

2: I have ordered the STS 3000 sampler
and I like it, but I dont get the Pool to work
I have a lot of sounds in the pool. and when I drag a program from the pool to the STS main window, I see the program
but there is noo sound???
But when I drag a sound from the browser(the ordinary way) then there is sound.
is it a bug on the MAC version ??
It would be so nice to have a HUGE favorites of samples in the pool. and directly from there in a fast way play the sounds

3:I have much ram on my MAC.
must I do anything (enable more ram)
to STS 3000. or do the sampler work after the ram I have left in my MAC automaticly.

I live in Stockholm and have big problems with my Pulsar (1) card in my 533 G4... I would truly appreciate some help and maybe a little "studiebesök" in the studio I can't get either midi or audio to work and I'm afraid it might be a an incompatibility with the g4 itself. I'm running 9.1 as that's the oldest system software that the this lineup of g4's can run. So the suggestionn of running 9.0.4 is not an option for me.
