Hi I am sure this question was answered years ago so I apologise but I have searched and cannot find the answer.
I have a Pulsar II and am thinking about getting a secondhand Pulsar I to boost my ADATs to 3 and more DSPs.
What is the difference between Pulsar I and II? Is it a wise thing to do?
Cheers

Main differences:

Pulsar1 has 4 DSP, has no ULLI, fastest is 13ms @ 44.1kHz, one STDM connector. I thought there was something different w the S/P-DIF too, or maybe it was in the older OS only. Pulsar 1 has a fixed I/O card, no Z-Link is available on this board for example.

Pulsar2 has 6 DSP, ULLI at 3ms, 2 STDM connectors, and exchangeable I/O board.

When I had 2 Pulsar1's and a Pulsar2, I used to get often STDM and DSP overload problems. Cos all traffic had to go over one STDM only. One Pulsar1 + Pulsar2 has never given me problems related to my cards configuration.

and remember that if you have a second generation card (pulsar2 etc.)together with first generation (pulsar1, srb1) you will have ulli, as the fastest card manages all pci communication.
