Hello,

I still use version 4.8.1 of Logic Platinum. The big question is whether you think it is worth updating to version 5 seeing that Emagic was bought out by Apple and that developments for PCs will stop at version 5.2. I don't intend buying a Mac!!!
I don't mind updating to version 5 as long as I know that it is at least just as stable as version 4.8.1. The reason I am considering updating is for the automation features, plus for the few extra plug ins and hopefully that it will be that little bit "better".
Is there anyone out there who prefers 4.8.1 to 5, or has had problems with 5? I don't want to risk the stable system that I have now, especially seeing that you have to return your old dongle and version 4 software so there is no going back once you commit yourself to Logic 5.

Logic 5.1.3 is the best sequencer on Windows, and it's very stable.
I already got CubaseSX, but I'm gonna stay on Logic for at least another 12-18 months...

Agree with kimgr completely only I decided to put off the SX upgrade and save my cash for more important investments for the moment

What do you owe Apple? (Apple being different from Emagic who I'm sure you owe a great deal.)

Apple? Fuck all!! They have publicly announced that they are about to abandon you. Are you going to willingly give them more money? (regardless of how good the product is).

Use a pirate version and give them nothing!! Fuck 'em! They don't deserve it.

I use Cubase. I am a programmer. I buy my software and I do NOT believe in/condone piracy. But in this case you have my total blessing. (not that that counts for any thing )

I'm using v5 with XPpro......IMHO, it's much more stable than the v4.8/Win 98SE setup that I was using.
The latest Logic (PC) v5.2 is great. I've just got a Logic Control a couple of days ago, and I already know that this thing really does unleash the power of Logic at your fingertips (so to speak!).
Logic 5 is a bit more cpu hungry, but again, the latest release v5.2 has been optimised further....seems to have regained some cpu overhead.
The only upgrade I can see that'll I want in the near future is a new MB/CPU. I've currently got a PIII 1gig.....probably go to a P4 2.0-2.5 gig. This WILL be adequate for the medium term (12...18....24 months at least).
Personally I think it's gonna take around 2 years to get a true picture of the future path for Logic users (PC). By then the next-gen Macs will be here.......OSX will be finally sorted..........possibly OSX will be available for Intel machines.......ya never know!

logic 5 has a very good automation system now. i don´t know, if the 5.2 now supports individual out`s for vsti. but if this work´s without bugs, then there is nothing missing for working in the moment.
