I just experienced something really strange. I was fiddling with my external mixer, currently only connected with one my Pulsar cards via SP/DIF, and when I started to play again I had lost sound from SFP.

I checked my SFP project and added midi monitors but there was no sign of life at all on any devices - however, the GUI seemed to work fine. I tried to reload my project - no change. Then I added a midi keyboard in the project and still I did not get anything.

Finally I checked my DSP usage and guess what! All values in the Sync/ASync columns had gone down to 0! Still everything in the GUI looked just hunky-doory...

Now I've restarted SFP and it seems everything is back to normal again...damn, and I thought I was currently completely unaffected by any bugs ;o)

Really strange though.

What sort of fiddling were you doing to your mixer ?

uhoh, I take that back - nothing is working except now I get the MIDI lamp to blink on my synths from the MIDI keyboard - but nothing on the MIDI monitor, nothing on any audio meters on synths or mixers...this really looks bad.

I'm gonna reboot and take it from beginning again...anyone know of a good sacrifice to make the Gods Of Expensive Hardware smile upon me the poor musician? ;oP

Nothing really - some dynamics configurations and then I turned off a mic (phantom powered). btw, it's a Behringer DDX-3216.

Unplug-replug spdif cables and change sample rate. I had happened to me once but i solved it that way... Does the sfp icon rotates?

hmm, this continues to be strange. My project still don't work very well - however, it seems as if I cannot slave the pulsar cards from the mixer SP/DIF anymore. Switching to pulsar to master will give me output on the midi monitor from the SFP midi keyboard for a while and then it stops. No sound anywhere in the project according to meters.

It was all working fine for several hours.

I have created a new minimal project and that works fine so it looks as though my creamware stuff is mostly intact anyway.
I had to switch pulsar to slave mode to get signal from mixer into SFP. Do I need to do anything special here (always synced on ADAT before, but that's not an option right now since I don't have the ADAT option for the mixer yet)?

ok, back to normal...the reason was a bad cable carrying SP/DIF from mixer to Pulsar card! Seems like SFP lost the thread when sync was lost and couldn't really recover even if it was made master again.

Thanks for the hints!

(Sorry for polluting the forum, but I was really worried there for a while...)

No pollution here at all! This is exactly why these forums are here. Your post might help someone else out.

Yup .... a few months ago, my local computer shop and m8's o nCubase.net forum spent a couple of days trying to work out how to get my new maxtor 80gig drive to work properly.

Finally found out that the guy who had installed my new ASUS TUSL2-C had used the old 40lead ribbon cables rather than using the 80lead ones.

And reading the proces of solving your problem is good learning for me when I get into doing that kind of installatoin.

Thanks:)
