hi out there,

i tried cubase sx a little and i´m feeling quite uncomftable on it, since i´m missing logic´s hyper editor, which i´m using a lot to compose druming sequenzes. has anybody of you an idea of how i could find a similar way to programm drums on sx (i tried the drum editor, but when i have more than 1 sound playing on the same beat, i can´t edit the velocity easily without having to open another window).

ideas??

you can read something on drum velocity in cubase here: http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewtopic ... &forum=3&7

another thing i do sometimes, is moving the note you want to edit to a position not in use, edit, and then move back. i know, it's not the proper way, but it's a work around.

sounds a little bit frustrating, to move and fiddle and move around.

"In Drum edit holding either the ctrl, alt or shift keys gives different velocities.
Which are settable on the left pane of the drum edit window.
The values correspond as follows;
lev1 => alt + click
lev2 => ctrl + click
lev3 => shift + click
lev4=> click

Notice how each drum sound has its own set of levels enabling you to quickly stepwrite authentic drum rhythms by randomly altering the levels, and using key combinations as above."

that´s what i found in the topic, you mentioned. thank you, this helps already a little.

Did you try the Cubse SX stepsequencer?

stepsequenzer? you mean the drum editor, don´t you? or where can i find a stepsequenzer in sx?

There's a (new) stepsequencer in cubase SX. Just like you can edit scores or drum-edit, you can use a stepsequencer.

I do not have Cubase here, but I'm sure you'll find it now. :wink:

found it. it´s under miditrack-insert effekt. that was a goog try, thanks atomic, but:

1. it seems to be monophonic
2. in loop play it doesn´t play the last note (seems a bug).

for drum programming this is still not an alternative to logic´s hyper editor (or does it work polyphone and i made something wrong?).

any other ideas?

Well, since you're desperate for ideas . . .
You might consider using Fruity 3.5 as a VSTi and program your drums through that. Depends what sounds and particular parameters you're after as to whether Fruity can deliver a good enough result, but for straight patterns Fruity is pretty good.

i´ll try that. has fruity individual outs? who do you programm 1/16 and 1/32 in one pattern in fuity or do you have to programm all in 1/32?
