When working with a patchbay, it might be easiest to control all SFP devices via the patchbay.
This offers 2 main advantages:
-all midi devices will 'suffer' same latency, cos the midi they receive is sent by the same device w the same drivers,
-and you avoid using CW midi drivers, CW's hardware ports are simple better ;)

So what you say is: don't connect the patchbay via usb to the pc but use it via the CW midi device.
But what's the use of a pc oriented patchbay then? this way I can't choose in Cubase which midi in/out I want to use, correct?
I can only use the CW midi in/out

I think what he means is:
PC -[usb]-> AMT8
AMT8 -[midi]-> P2 Midi Hardware

I'm about to try this with my serial Midisport...

Just use the physical midi-ports on your card to connect to a port on the AMT.

I do the same with the Steinberg Midex-8, and it works fantastic. A major improvement compared to when you go through the OS.

Connected the AMT8 via serial port, usb didn't work.
Connected the luna midi ports to the amt8 so now I can also play VSTi's on my masterkeyboard.
Everything works just fine.

thanks to you all for your reaction
