my setup was super stable and glitch-free, but now if I record audio in Cubase 5, there are crackles... it becomes worse when I add a VST effect on the channel.

Weird! The system is all optimized and stuff (XP pro, most services disabled, no internet, the whole deal).

What should i look for to fix this? I've been so problem-free lately with my Pulsar2 that I am a bit rusty on resolving glitches! (cool actually).

I've recently upgraded to 3.1, and I think it is the first time I tried recording audio on it... Maybe that's it?

Thanks in advance.

....it could be a number of things but for starters have you messed w/ the memory management on the channels in the systems menu? I was getting crackle on trying to track 16 channels @ once from 2 STS3000s & it got rid of the crackle......

Sounds like memory buffer/cache problem

Could also be your ULLI settings... I know some VSTi's don't perform well with some of the preset patches... not sure that I have had trouble with VST effects.... but might be worth a try - to lower the ULLI
