Thank guys, really helpfull!

Are there more any more devices which have just that little bit extra?

Is there a website which rates the devices (on Planetz many devices aren't rated...)

Thanks so far!

Have you tried Celmo's Goofey ? And if you like that I always recommend Celmo's BassmanIII - not free, but definitely worth the $ and sounds like it might have the extra edge you want. Try the demo.

And how about the Zarg Comb Plus (free) and maybe some of the ModV2 devices ?

Thanks Spirit!

I don't have Modular yet (but it's coming in a week, ModularV2) and it looks a bit complicated. But when I read this forum it seems to be very good and usefull, because it seems that you can create your own synth or something like that.

Just wondering, are there a lot users of Modular?

I think lots of people do very specific tasks on mod2, but not as much to be called a die hard mod2 fan. Atleast it's true for me. Some times I make patches for a specific bleep I want, and the next day, I look at the patch and cannot figure out what I was trying to do. I use it a lot for cheezy blips and bleeps and simple FM sounds that aren't usually available. (other than from an old sound blaster  )

And then there's the joy of building your own effects/audio processors. Things become so customized, that it only works with one sound, one mix. So things are very hard share.

Once you learn it though, you'll start thinking mod2. When you hear a synth sound, you'll start visualizing them in modules.

does the modular uses a lot of DSP or does that fully depends on how you use it? (maybe this belongs in the modular forum.. )

it fully depends on what you are doing. in Modular you can make simple 1 trick pony devices that take next to none dsp, and you can assemble monsters that will max your card with 1 voice.

my list btw

Modular
everything from Neutron
FM4

You're right. It depends what modules you load. But in my opinion, mod2 isn't too DSP efficient. Some of the modules take up much more DSP than you'd expect.

Anyway, before we go too OT, how about the free flute synth from Zarg? It's not too versatile, but something cool to have. It's got a this really special ambience. And of course, the Hummel version of the Bluesynth rocks.

And my other great love, the Prisma. I've really warmed to this over time. One of the very best on the platform IMHO.

Ah, yes, and FM One...
Which I lost when installing 3.01

Modular seems like something completely different, but it's very good (the best...?) to make exclusive sounds

for some reason, FM One is not included anymore, but you can easily copy it from older pulsar versions. if you want, i can email the fm1 (1,5Mb), but i don't know it it will work on your board (registration)

Thanks, but I have it here on my Pulsar installation disc (v2) also I guess or is packed so that I have to install it first before I can see the file?

if it's not more in your system, you'll have to reinstall 2.04 (or whatever's on your CD) to get the FM One.

Oh, well, you said you could email it to me. Does anyone know if the registration code is a problem? Hope not, because then I don't have to install v2 again...

Thanks for the offer Borg (ach ja...)!
