Hello there… Well, what I mean for automation is that I would like for the voices to move through the pan spectrum here and there, but slowly, kind a giving to it a slow motion, soft but warm movement. (Sorry if I don’t express myself with full English, I just can’t cos it’s not my first language)
I definitely like the voices together cos, being honest, despite the fact that she has a nice voice, she sings with fear, she’s paying too much attention to tuning and so expression is a bit lost. Singing together covers it and the song goes on beautifully.
VOICE MOTION: Yes, some movement, inserting some live into them, sometimes a delay, just at the end of a musical phrase, let’s say: “I’m so happy to see your face”, well, instead of leaving it dead at the end, you can introduce a little echo of the voices: “I’m so happy to see your face… your face, your face”. This little details are completely sticking to your memory and it’s difficult not to like them if they are creative and properly introduced into the song.
You could pan a musical phrase panning her to the right while you’re into the left, next strophe you could inverse the order going her left and you right.
You could introduce a high cut or low cut into a single word, but always kipping in mind the expression of the words, what they mean, so this gives stronger expression to what is being said and enriches the melody at a timber level too.
Obviously, there’s no need to sing always unison, you could sometimes go with to voices, and this is always enjoyable.
When panning, cos this is a soft tune, I would expect for it to move slowly from left to right, from right to left. I said “automation” cos this is what I call it, cos I do it into Cubase…
Etc., etc., etc... I Think you got my design, these sort of several “you could” I’ve given you up here, are just references to a way of doing something, i.e. the spirit with which I would act into this song, rather than giving you a complete, concrete idea. Hope it’s clear and useful to you.
