Hey everyone...

I've read in past posts that there is a problem with portamento mode in the Modular V2, and I am currently experiencing that problem firsthand. I was wondering if anyone has come up with a solution to this problem, or if the problem is solved with the Scope Fusion software?

Here's some specifics: I've made a pretty generic sampler in the Mod V2 environment so that I could play .wav files and take advantage of the pitch shift (I hear there is none in the STS3000). Basically, it's just like the basic synths in the first tutorial, with a sample oscillator instead of a multi osc. My problem is that I want to do a pitch shift that spans about 6 octaves...and since the existing pitch shifter in the Pulsar extends only 4 octaves, I've decided that I'm going to use portamento to get down the first 2 octaves, and pitch-shift down the last two. Confused?

I'm sorry if this post would have been better placed in the Modular section...

Anybody have any ideas? Thanks as always...

Just for your information :

In STS3000 you have a pitch shift using pitch bend wheel for ex. It true it's not the same thing as STS5000 (formant correction, timestretch, etc) but it really the same as in the Mod2 anyway.

Sorry, no help to offer for Mod2 thou, never tried this.

but what is the problem tho?? I've had times when portamento just simply didin't work.. is that what you mean? If that's the case, restart your pulsar software, or do a reboot. Usually either one of them would work. I think you can just portamento the entire 6 octaves.

Hey,

thanks for the quick response...I guess that my problem is that the portamento simply isn't working. I've tried rebooting twice, and it still isn't working. I suppose I'll try a couple more times...

In order to see whether or not it was simply a Mod V2 thing, I loaded up the Lightwave synth, and the portamento function in that seemed to work just fine. which leads me to believe that it is, in fact, a Mod V2 thing.

Does anyone know of a good program that will convert a .wav file to something that the STS samplers can use?

Allright, I've finally finished the download of the new Fusion software...(fingers are crossed). Here goes...(wince!)

yes, sadly portamento has never worked for the sample modules in the modular, i'm sure it is an intentional thing, don't know why.

good thing to add to the list.

hmm, that's wierd.. cuz you can control pitch with a wacky lfo. Quite similar to a looong portamento anyway...

Converting wav to sts is easy, just load the wav into sts, then save volume. It will save the sts version of the wav file into a specified directory. But actually, I think you can just load wav files straight into mod2. Somehow, when you load samples into the sample module, the filebrowser defaults to showing sts files, but actually, you can just choose All Files, and open wav files.
