euh... an update I hope! This version has still too many problems for me, on both drivers/boots. (I have 2 SFP setups: one updated the 3.01, the other one is a fresh install)
It just ain't right yet. Here. I would not advise anyone who's making a living of his cards, to go for SFP yet, but to wait for a more mature installation.

Atomic, I appreciate your desire for a patched-up SFP but do you mind if CW concentrate on the S-MUX card for a while? My A16 tells me she's feeling empty...

Then I might go back to 3.01, which works fine. Although I'll have to remove my 2nd CPU too. It just doesn't work here, it looks like SFP installs at random and doesn't succeed at finishing the job. Some things work, some essentials don't. I've been installing for 24 hrs now. Way to go!
I mean, how must it be for a newbie? I asked myself, so I got a spare HD and installed only XP, SFP and Cubase. It still doesn't do it's job, the install program missed all synths and some mixers. Oh well, a newbie might not see what's missing, I sure do. So I copied the synths from my first install boot, SB404-V2 still doesn't work. But now wav dest works. Any consistency you think, in these installs?

Oh dear... Sorry to have posted such a light-hearted response here Atomic. I didn't realise your situation was so serious. SFP works fine for me and I don't use XP or dual CPU's so I can't offer you much help, but I hope someone else here can.
Take care,
Retro

I don't think you'd loose anything by going back to 3.01 tho.. unless you're setup relies a lot on the dual cpu. Stability is probably better in 3.01, but then again, I just lost a project with a crash last night so it's hard to say.
Anyway, it seems the logical way for CW to go next is to spend all their resources on Noah. Or maybe they have a separate team for that.

Thanks for your compassion, Retro. I don't know what to do really. Everything's screwed up now here, even old installations (i can restore backups tho, don't worry). I hope time will bring me solutions and insight.

Atomic - sorry to hear of your problems - do you reckon the issue is XP then?
My fresh install of SFP on W2k was just fine but I have been thinking of moving to XP - maybe I'll wait a bit.
cheers

Next step: do the whole install w Win98se, for some more troubleshooting. But I'm on a full NTFS system, no more FAT32 here. I hope (Micha that posted it) the DOS NTFS drivers can help me out. So here's the Win98 NTFS drivers:

Any other suggestions? Sub, you awake yet?

hi atomic
I also had that problem of stuff not being installed, none of the synths and half of the effects+mixers were missing. I just ended up copying most of the install directory into the SFP folder. I have yet to go through and sort it out into the correct places. My sb404 does work ok though

Some of these bugs are starting to sound horrific.
I hope all new cards sold by Creamware are not going to come with SFP3.1 installed.
I haven't tried it yet, but I can't imagine the situation being helped at all if brand new users experience crashes like this.
I can imagine the slogans.
SCOPE - the high-end audio card for professionals - crashes every time you edit text box.
Sorry - poking a little fun at Creamware's expense. I'm sure once bug reports like that flood in that they may hold off bundling that SFP 3.1 with new cards until a patch or two is released.
And the tech support guy saying that they put all their emphasis on just getting it to work with this release with the bugs not being so high a priority. OMG!!!! Who is the strategist there? Didn't they hold off on release because they were ironing out some bugs that had turned up and that they were more interested in a stable release. Hogwash by the sounds of it.
Seriously though, quite a few guys on this forum were beta testers. Were these errors coming through during beta testing? I imagine issue logs are kept and published regularly to beta testing groups for a professional development such as this. Was anyone reporting crashes on editing text boxes and all the other variety of quite disturbing ailments the software seems to have?

I did it the other way around.. installed everything, checked which ones didn't work, and just deleted the files straight out of the file browser in SFP. Finished in less than 10 minutes.

I had too
few[/:i] of everything installed. Thanks Orbita, I copied some folders from the SFPinstall/App/... to my SFP/App folder, seems to work great now: SB404, WavDest etc. Too bad SFP installer didn't get those right.
You're my hero, I owe you!

I did the same thing...
Installed the Scope option, imported my key file, the installer installed *everything* perfectly.
I then went back and deleted the 4 or 5 devices I don't own and added my 3rd party devices as normal.
Did two great installs on both XP and win98se, both previously had 3.01
I think SFP 3.x is a HUGE leap forward for this platform. I personally love it. Now getting more DSP is more than just "oh, that'd be nice..." to "I MUST!!"

I think SFP it fun to play about with until a bug release patch which must be their main priority.
Otherwise they will gain the reputation that terretec cards had, when you fork out a large amount of cash for a card such as Pulsar or scope you might expect it to need some special setting up, but you expect it to work once thats done.
I really think they should have had a wider beta release ie more than developers but not general public, to save them next time PR wise.
Noah should not be creamwares main focus, it is a niche market for those who want to take their creamware sounds on the road, or who can't be doing with computers (and bugs perhaps!) It has some tough competition.
Creamware should look after its source of bread and butter earnings so to speak, ie Triple Dat and dsp cards. They need to get scope up to pro or semi-pro standard.
Every review I have read of creamware notes that they had some problems. They need to fix this desperately

True, true - perhaps a nice Scope board - I like the look of the finalizing stuff as well.

I realize I'm responding to a dead thread here, but I'd like to note that a bit over a year later... look how much progress has been made on this platform! I mean holy sh*t!
I just found this thread looking for something else, but I think it's noteworthy to reflect upon how much SFP has improved and brought to the table since it's birth.
Thanks Creamware!
Sam
...now how about a surround-sound capable convolving reverb so I don't have to buy Samplitude

(only sorta joking)

the latest SFP has been working without any problems for a long time here (WinXP). There's always bound to be problems with some systems. Sometimes it's in the software, sometimes in the hardware, sometimes the OS, sometimes a combination that proves to be a problem, but I don't think SFP is very "buggy" at all.
I'm sure there will be new versions though, and it will only get better

I still use both 3.01 and SFP 3.1c on my machine (Mac). There are songs I started to compose a while ago (in the times of 3.0) and are still in development (I sometimes quit working with a song to find it interestng to finish half a year later

And, of course, as every kid - I'm waiting for the NEW impatiently. I observe my son who waits for his birthday and after the presents are given to him he becomes sad and say 'oh, now I have to wait the whole year for my next birthday

' - and i understand that point of view. Everybody does, don't you?
