Can I still use my powersampler midi in and and the audio outputs of the card in xtc mode?

At the moment I don't seem able to, but I'm unable to download the manual at the moment.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I can't seem to get midi into xtc mode, I can get sound out using the direct mode on a synth, but I can't get cubase to get midi in and out

MIDI In and Out don't work here either in XTC mode, eventhough the XTCproject.pro looks okay. :sad:

Fredo replied this at the CW forum and it worked for me:
For me it works in XTC mode. But every time i start Cubase i have to reset the devices. Then Midi works. (Optionen- Geräte zurücksetzen)

Do you have midi configured in your xtcproject.pro ?

In my project there's no midi only a weird asio setup. I usually have the projects going through a mixer etc. Do I need to change the project?

XTCproject.pro:

MIDI A Source -> Sequencer Midi Dest 1
Sequencer Midi Source 1 -> MIDI A Dest
Analog Source -> ASIO2 Dest-64
SP-DIF Source -> ASIO2 Dest-64
ASIO-2-16 Source 64 -> Analog Dest
ASIO-2-16 Source 64 -> SP-DIF Dest
ASIO-2-16 Source 64 -> Merge In
Merge In -> Merge Out
Merge Out -> ASIO2 Dest-64

And there's an unconnected DirectPlayMixerContainer. Not sure what that does.

Is this how it was preconfigured, cause mine looks nothing like that???

Thanks a lot for the reply. It definitely gives me something to work with.

Have you enabled the I/Os in Cubase's ASIO Scope control panel? Try to reload the I/Os through the control panel. It might help if for example the I/O crashes during the loading of Cubase.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions. Well the midi is working and there's audio getting into cubase, but alas nothing coming out.

I will however persist, until I get it working, unless someone helpful soul can send me a suitable powersampler xtcproject.pro. Thanks if anyone can help.

Did you enable the audio channel on the Cubase mixer? If its getting audio and midi you're basically sitting at the finish line waiting to cross! :grin:

Finally solved it!

I didn't have the inputs and outputs of the merge device connected....

Now to sort out the delay between effected and uneffected sound, but i will get there.

Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions.

Now to sort out the delay between effected and uneffected sound, but i will get there.

This is part of the disadvantage of using XTC mode: there will be ASIO latency. Solution: lower your ULLI for lower latency; if you get clicks, raise the ULLI one notch. If you want the lowest latency setting, get a 2.0Ghz P4 or faster...

Just route all the channels that aren't delayed to one of the group channels and use the XTC Delay S compensation plugin insert on that group channel.

I've always worked at lowest ULLI, don't have a P4 though :wink:

I think I'm getting it now..

When I referred to the delay between effected and uneffected sound, I was using NI battery and masterverb. If i try working at the lowest latency and route battery's output to a channel with the xtc delay compensation plug as an insert everything should work. I'll give it a go.

Thanks again

This one is for playing the synths in xtc mode without latency by routing them directly to the output. Connect its output to analog out.

Hello my friend.
i have a powerpulsar and i have problems with xtc mode.
Actually I don't know how to use this xtc mode 'cause :
When I'm loading a plugin or xtc instrument into Cubase 5.1 everything it's Ok, but when I want to export Mixdown file with my xtc instrument or effect, I have only strange noises.
Do you know how to setup my pulsar SFP to work properly or is not working at all.
My e-mail is ionita_costi@hotmail.com

Export is not happening in XTC - You need to "merge" the tracks. Go to vst inputs, activate Merge, mute unwanted tracks, set record track to merge, mute it to avoid feedback, & go for it. I might have left something out ..... oh, here we go:-

The output selection list at the bottom of tthe Cubase Master Channel strip
contains the option L Merge for this
purpose. Select this option for now.

The merge options represent virtual outputs
that can be routed back to inputs. The VST Input dialog contains corresponding inputs labeled L Merge and R Merge. Select these inputs, then choose a free stereo track to record to. Switch this track to a free channel in the Cubase mixer and turn Merge Input on (click on the In button in the channel strip while holding the Ctrl key). This is always the last option in the list. You must also enable the Mute option for this channel so that the output does not reappear at the master inputs resulting in feedback.
Begin recording as usual. When recording is complete, switch the master channel output back to the I/O extension output you use for monitoring. (from SFP manual) :grin:
