In this thread you can find link to download right version of msvcrt.dll (6.00.8797.0) which solved my crashing projects with PulsarMixer under win98se.
The older version not worked properly on my ASUS TUSL2-C (who knows why ? :eek:).
Cheers :grin:

Mr. Darolek!

Glad that worked out for ya! Although I tried that as well but to no avail, still didn't do the trick for me.

However, I think I found the Achille's Heel on my problem - I fixed my Vcache way too high = 65536, which can cause things to get a little unstable. So, I reverted back to 16384, stil high but Pulsar/tripleDAT seem to be humming along very well. So far, after a few dozen startups, reboots, adding/omitting gadgets in Project, and exits, those pesky errors has not showed themselves - yet, and, hopefully they are begone!

Anyway, glad things worked out for you as well!

...and now, make good music!

Skoal!

Hey. I've got the ASUS TUSL2-C with Win98SE as well. I wonder if I would have had the same problem if I'd used the Pulsar mixer. I actually use a combination of Dynamic Mixers and Micro Mixers instead, so I've never had a chance to run into that one.

I hope it doesn't happen with the Scope mixers...Well I'll find out soon I guess.

Hi Z St. !
It's strange but [VCache] parameters should be matching to size of installed RAM.
128MB= min/max 32768
256MB= min/max 65536
512MB= min/max 131072
etc......
You wrote that you have 512MB (PC100) - right ?

Hey glad to be of service. Notice the date on my message in that thread - it's an OLD solution!

I think the "Search" function of this forum holds LOTS of GOLD... almost all problems have been discussed before, this forum is becoming very mature with information.

Dien Dobre Dolek!

Yup, I do have 512MB PC100. However, I read somewhere that setting VCache Min&Max over 65536 actually causes instability. (Please confirm this).

Originally, I set my VCache params to 32768 as a median compromise, then, those errors started to show up, then I fixed it to 65536, then, I was getting even more of those errors - and then some. Finally, I fixed it down to 16384; since then, everything is stable.

I've been working Pulsar/tripleDAT really hard, maxing out all my tracks, full duplex on all 16 channels and maxing the DSP load, throwing everything into Porject, then exiting, rebooting, restarting... So far it seem to be humming along! So, more testing ahead when I get home tonight. I'll keep you posted.

I'm glad that you've got yours running as well!

You definitely do NOT want that much for Vcache, that's totally nuts! However for your swap file, larger numbers are fine, I have a gig swap file because sometimes I work on really huge audio files (full CDs) and I like having undo on them. :wink:

[UPDATE]

After setting my Vcache limits to 16MB, it was running fine! Yielding only one msvcrt error after several dozen startups, exits, reboots, etc....
This time, I set it down to 12MB, so far, so good!

Cheers!
