effects on auxgroup vs only within channels ?

In the old days, I used external gear for compression, reverb and enhancing.
I grouped many channels to one aux-path and fed it to the external gear.
Within scope, I do the same, but I think, scope is powerfull to copy&paste all effects to each single channel.

Is there an advantage/disadvantage to work with grouped effects ?

yes, and it depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

if it is a reverb that will provide an ambience for a whole mix, of course you want to use an aux bus.

if it is compression on a specific instrument, that should be inserted on the instrument's track.

if it is a compressor for several mics, like on a drumset, then sending everything to a group and compressing the group makes the most sense.

special FX for one track might as well be an insert on the track.

just do what makes most sense....
