Hi all,

I'm experiencing a few problems that seem to have cropped up in the last day with clicking in the audio signal while playing sf2 instruments within both the STS3000 and the STS2000P.

I haven't finished conducting various tests on this but so far this is what I've found:

- It occurs using either one of my sequencers, n-Track Studio and Muzys

- I honestly can't recall it happening previously when I was using these devices although I suppose it could have as I've only had the card a couple of weeks

- Every snare sound clicked to give an idea of the frequency

- When I rebooted the computer the click seemed to be not audible but only for a couple of minutes and then it would occur again

- Theoretically it could actually be the sample and I've still got to test that out a bit

- I've tinkered with ULLI settings in case it had something to with that (please note, I know little to nothing about ULLI)

- It does not seem to occur using any of the synths I'm using in the project

- It occurs whether my DSP reading is close to MAX or less than half full

- It doesn't seem to be a volume problem as far as I can tell

Is this triggering anything for anybody?

I still have some tests to run on a couple of VSTi to see if it's just the STS or the sample itself, but I thought I would post this in case there's something well known by everyone here about the STS samplers that I should be observing to prevent this sort of thing.

I don't imagine clicks in the audio would be the norm for a device of the calibre of the STS devices so there must be something going on. I'll give an update regarding further tests but any feedback would be appreciated.

Check the polyphony settings and make sure that the general polyphony (in the task bar, the number under the device) AND the individual instruments polyphony (in the main STS window, on the line where the instrment is loaded) are correctly set. When a lot of notes play together they may cut short their neighbors. Also check your envelopes and see that the attacks and releases are not completely vertical, because it may cause some clicks.

I had clicks while using my STS and out of resources I upgraded my system to P4 today. I am now released of this nameless calamity, thanks God!!

What is your system caleb, still on your old P2? List motherboard/processor speed/windows version/Pulsar version and current ULLI setting if you would please, that'll help quite a bit.

To tell you the truth, I don't actually know what my motherboard is.

This is not on the old PII though, it's a PIII 1GHz with 512Mb Ram. Windows 98SE.

I imagine the board would probably be a good one since the guy who made it designed to whole system specifically around the Pulsar card. He's a Pulsar freak himself you see - I believe his name here is Madmod?? I could be wrong though.

When I first got the system I tried to install some USB devices and had all sorts of problems. He told me that I was a total stupido for using USB and I have now committed myself to never using it again. I uninstalled what I could but somehow got crap in the "system.ini" file. Oooops!

I'm paying to have the whole thing rebuilt again.

I think it's probably important to remember that when you are specifically custom-building a machine for music it is actually going to be pretty fragile and you've got to be careful what you put on it.

Lesson learned - no more consumer grade USB crap on my machine EVER.
