Hi,

I have my pulsar in a G4 running os9. So far so good. I am wanting to get 8 channels of ADAT out, so I can record into an RME Fireface which is now the main interface in my system. I still love the pulsar, so wanting to use it as much as I can.

From the manual, I see that the ADAT OUT is the lower of the outputs, closest to the main board... and I added the module into the pulsar software and wired it all up, adjacent to the analogue out, which is currently making noise.

As far as the pulsar is concerned, is that all I need to do? Not sure about the RME side, but I figured it may not be the place to ask about it here:) But happy for any help of course!

I´m not familiar w/ the ancient Creamware Scope for Mac.
Is it Scope 4 already,- which I guess was the latest available ?

According to ADAT, I cannot imagine there´s a difference between Windows and Mac.

AFAIK, ADAT I/O w/ any of the PCI cards (and XITE as well) should work once there are ADAT Source and Destination modules in your project window.
You just only have to manage the signal routing inside Scope then.

On the RME side, there´s TotalMIx where you decide what comes in where and goes out to wherever you want to.
For ADAT connections, that happens in TotalMIx hardware In- and Output area and should be saved to a preset once been figured out.
Use TotalMIx software I/Os to route to your DAW application and select record inputs in your DAW application then.

Leaves the master/slave relation of Scope PCI card and RME Fireface.
When you want to use the RME as master (clock),- the Scope card should be set to be slave in Scope settings and Sync Source should be ADAT while RME Fireface settings should be "master".

No BNC wordclock urgently necessary for only 2 devices and when not using a master clock device.
Just only be sure there are both,- ADAT In and Out,- to and from RME Fireface connected w/ the related ADAT ports of your Scope PCI card.

ADAT out side is always the lit one (red laser). Input is always dark. This is true no matter the gear, consumer or professional.

If you’re going to handle clocking--which is necessary--one card should be master and the other must be slave. Typically, I either make the one connected to my monitoring chain or the one recording the most inputs from external gear the master. The reason the one recording the most inputs often gets priority is that it ensures the least amount of smearing (jitter) for multitrack recording. Otherwise, defer to the monitoring chain for accuracy.
