Thanks for your help in advance.

I'm using Cubase 5.0R6. I have Pulsar3.1 installed. I'm using a Creamware Pulsar I card with SCOPE SRB on a P4 w/ 256MB Memory, Matrox G450 Dual Head, and RAID 0+1 for myHD. I'm using Win98SE with all of Subhumans recommended tweaks (thanks Sub). Everything works fine with no crashes. For this scenerio I'd like to work in XTC mode.

I XTC Control Panel In Cubase I've activated the ADAT I/O A and B

In Cubase I've set up multirecord. I've also set up 16 channels in the ASIO control panel so that I can record 16 channels and activated them all in the ASIO Input panel.

I've labeled each of the tracks 1-16 and have numbered them sequentially 1-16 as well.

Here's my problem:

When I activate four tracks for recording in the r column I can activate and make ready for recording those four tracks, however, when I get to track no. 5 and activate it, track no. 1 deactivates itself. In reality I need 16 to multi-track.

What do I do?

On occasion if I set up Cubase for 24 tracks and number some of them randomly (16, 12, 19, 21, 24, etc.) I can activate up to 8 but I'm not understanding the cause and effect relationship between the random track number and active recording channels. Has anyone any experience with this and what is the work around. I have another client and I don't want to be dopin with the track numbers to just work---I want it to work right.

Thanks.

Howard

if i understand (my english is not good) this is cubase problem - not pulsar!?
anyway: i do 16 track (2 adats) multy record with cubase without problem.
you must set new audio chanel for every track. if you set same audio chanel for tracks #1 and #5 that hapends what you say
when I get to track no. 5 and activate it, track no. 1 deactivates itself.
btw: i hope that you already solve this

That makes sense.

Also go to yhr forums at http://www.cubase.net and do a search on 'pulsar'.

I do not own a Pulsar [yet:)], But the problem you mention sounds familiar.

Good luch as you solve it.

I was able to solve the problem by upgrading to 5.1. I don't know what else it could have been but thanks.

Not only do you have to activate the 16 inputs in cubase, you have to assign all 16 inputs in the cubase monitor mixer right up the top i.e. in1L, in1R, in2L, in2R, in3L, in3R etc. otherwise the exact same problem you describe will occur.

yes, this is it! this problem don't have nothing with version of software. you have right, bassdude.
ohmelas, for easyest working you can rename inputs (in def.all) in cubase to: adat1, adat2, adat3... stsL, stsR, sts3.... giga1L, giga1R... synth1L, synth1R... etc
