Bitheadz, maker of Unity DS 1 softsampler has an FTP site with a "free for all" section.
I just took a quick glance but it seems to be several 100 Mb of sounds in there.

Ooops. They are probably in Unity DS 1 format. But there are format converters. And there is a Soundfont section as well.
