Hello , a few days ago i've posted a topic here and also to cw support , here is my topic :
i have a mac g3 450 mhz(blu/white) 384 mo ram
ati rage128 ,scsi ultrawide pci card( for 2 segate barracuda hd),pulsar
2,scsi adaptec 2930 for cd-r, usb midisport 2+2 .
mac os 9.1 (upgraded from 9.04) ,oms 2.3.8.
Pulsar v3.0.1. and VST 32 .5.0(original)
For some reasons , too long to explain ..,i have to mix, compress..
everything in pulsar from now on (before i had hardware mixer) and it
happens that after a few minutes that i'm tweeking some eq or effect into
pulsar window ,while vst is running some midi and audio sequences,
everything freezes leaving a VERY NASTY AUDIO LOOP. IT happens only when
i'm working into pulsar window and not when i'm in vst's one.It's really
impossible to work like this and restart the make each 5 minutes.
Vst has 180 mega of ram and cpu is at 65%
pulsar app has 30 mo and dsps at 40%
The rest of available ram is for mac os which also manages pulsar's memory
,it floats between 85 and 95 mo depending on the size of the current
pulsar project, thus leaving about 75 mo of ram free ! .
I've tried to increase and decrease memory allocations to the apps but
nothing changes.
I think that the problem relies into asio which crashes and generates this
nasty audio loop(like a looped very short sample going into feedback ):
trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. (that's how it sounds like).

Do you get an error messag or something like this?
Please update to the latest software versions.
Try if the problem changes with ASIO 1 or ASIO 2 driver.
Test different buffer settings in Cubase.

Well, it's pretty terse but in IT support you can never assume anything. I've witnessed people at my work literally screaming at our IT support to come and fix this f****** s***box right now ! They suggest to do these things as a simple checklist, which can be very handy for troubleshooting. They could also send 10 pages with detailed periferal incompatibilities and pci voltages and ... But first... the checklist

hi i have look on my g3 in the "ram window" i don't know in english the exact name.i have launch a song and check this
Pulsar2 project(dsp 3/4 full)+cubase(35 audio tracks mono):pulsar takes 53.8mo-cubase 185mo-os8.6 117mo it stays 23.8mo free.it don''t crash.
considering that i allocate know 190mo to cubase.and 55mo to pulsar.
Under my actual config the only problem is that i have sometimes to wait for audio when i'm going fast from a locator to another.(But i live very well with that,waiting to put more ram)
if you need an asio driver from my machine as samplaire say "send me a mail".i dont know if my drivers could be helpfull for the os9 but anyway.if you need make it know.

Have you tried with another ASIO program ? Just to make sure that it is'nt Cubase's fault. I get kind of suspiscous when they release things like V. 5.04pb3
There is a demo of Reason on http://www.propellerheads.se that runs with ASIO.

Pulsar will be inplemented though..
