I'm sure that this problem is Pulsar related but I ask your patience as I explain!
Since upgrading from Pulsar 2.04 to 3.01 I am unable to backup my Roland JV1080 to my hard disk. I have thousands of patches and performances (programs and projects) on the hard disk and I can no longer send them back to the JV1080.
I have used SounDiver, JV1080 Editor and SyxLibEd successfully prior to the upgrade.
The question is:
1. Is there a problem with Pulsar that has caused this?
2. Do I need Pulsar running in background to backup or is there a straight through mid in-midi out when Pulsar is not working (can I simply use the card to transmit through)?
3. Have I got something wrong in my background project?
I've tried everything I can think of, with or without Pulsar, with or without Cubase and Pulsar and so on.
I've now reached that manic depressive point where the brain no longer functions logically and am unable to sort this one out.
Perhaps I should go back to version 2 - at least I can get the songs and sounds back that I was working on.

Your midi goes 'too much too fast' for your Pulsar midi driver I think. You could adjust the Midi Delay on one of your devices (usually your midi editor).

With my Pc1600x, I can dump preset per preset, but not bulk dumps. That's a too large amount of data too fast. I choose to set Midi Delay to a larger value. Midi Delay is the time a device will take to send the next string of data. Larger values relieve your midi ports. Especially sample transfers via Midi contain huge amounts of data.

Make sure you don't have a midi loop. No other device can send midi during sysex dumps than the one dumping.

When you´re using external gear it´s always a good thing to havy an additional Midi interface. Steinberg MidEx8 is my favourite, I used to have an AMT8 before, but I encountered heavy problems with AMT/Cubase5 combination.
But Sounddiver works fine on the MidEx...

Joeka - you had both AMT8 and Midex8?

I am considering just these 2 interfaces -
two questions:
what works better with cubase AND logic?
can either operate live w/out a computer as a MIDI patchbay? - the info was rather meek on both counts @ steinberg n emagics sites . . . thanks

Embarassed? Me? Yes! I can't understand this but one I removed my "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" game from the pc, it all worked.
Don't ask me why though.
Let that be a warning to us all. Keep your music pc only for music!
