After waiting for months, I have finally got my A16 Ultra, I opened the box with great anticipation, to find a small piece of orange paper that informed me :

"To us ethe A16 with z-Link, you will need a Z-Link Cable, this can be obtained through your local Creamware dealer..."

W@nk3r5 !!!

F^(K1N6 w@nK3r5 !!!!

So how long will it take for them to ship a ruddy z-link cable?

Does anyone know if I can just go to my local shop and buy a Firewire cable? Will that work?

Thanks

You should just get a 6-pin FireWire cable - your dealer probably doesn't have stock of these yet (I am not keeping stock of these cables because it would be cheaper for the user to just buy one online).

Or use standard ADAT cables if you have a Classic board.

That was my decision when I experienced the same letdown. The Ultra sounds great over the lightpipe. I agree, though, pretty foul to make the connections so proprietary.

Creamware's Zlink is actually 6 pin firewire - not proprietary at all - only the format they use over the standard cable is.
