I do have 4 windows 11 machines now, though, and they all work great. As always, you get used to the change in user interface I am on 4K screens as well, so that helps with the size of some of the UI elements.
Thx, you convince me using Win11 Pro on my laptop #2.
Up to now, no applications and special drivers installed,- so no biggie when I might be pi##ed later.

Just another important question:

When upgrading Win10 Prox64 laptop #1, currently running Win10 Pro x64, to p.ex. "Tiny11" (or normal Win11),- does that keep the already installed programs, apps and drivers or does it wipe drive C:\ completely w/ the consequence all the audio apps and plugisn will have to be installed all new then ?

no need for win11 at this time, for sure.

REMOVE onedrive completely. pull the roots out. it is SO unneeded.

Win10 Privacy
I use that too, on my Scope machine and last standing Windows computer. It's a feature on my router called MAC block. It works great, and has saved me from installing any kind of anti-virus or security software for the last 20 years.

And according to a portable ClamAV which I scan the machine with like once a year, with amazing results: zero infections and perfect privacy from prying MS eyes!

I have read in music forums and in general that for DAW use Bud, you better stay in Win 10, as Gary suggests. NI, for instance, still has restrictions incompatibilities with Win 11

What a satisfactory answer brother Gary, I will REMOVE altogether OneDrive for sure.

As Valis said:
I disable it from shares first, then from being logged in, before final completely disabling. The reason? It gets re-enabled/installed during certain updates and that stops any and all nonsense.
But for me I think, it is not a problem to apply every now and then "Windows 10 bloatware" script whenever I finish a Win 10 upgrade install. I hope it is no necessary to be installing updates every week, I guess we could apply updates every month? If so, no problem, once a month you run your script and disable again any bloat that they could have installed anew, just as you would defrag a disk, not big deal.

Look at the sheer amount of non-requested items that gets uninstalled by Windows 10 bloatware:

Which apps are removed by Windows 10 Debloater?
According to its GitHub page, Windows 10 Debloater removes the following apps:

3DBuilder, Appconnector, Bing Finance, Bing News, Bing Sports, Bing Weather, Fresh Paint, Get started, Microsoft Office Hub, Microsoft Solitaire Collection, Microsoft Sticky Notes, OneNote, OneConnect, People, Skype for Desktop, Alarms, Camera, Maps, Phone, SoundRecorder, XboxApp, Zune Music, Zune Video, Windows communications apps, Minecraft, PowerBI, Network Speed Test, Phone, Messaging, Office Sway, OneConnect, Windows Feedback Hub, Bing Food And Drink, Bing Travel, Bing Health And Fitness, Windows Reading List, Twitter, Pandora, Flipboard, Shazam, CandyCrush, CandyCrushSoda, King apps, iHeartRadio, Netflix, DrawboardPDF, PicsArt-PhotoStudio, FarmVille 2 Country Escape, TuneInRadio, Asphalt8, NYT Crossword, CyberLink MediaSuite Essentials, Facebook, Royal Revolt 2, Caesars Slots Free Casino, March of Empires, Phototastic Collage, Autodesk SketchBook, Duolingo, EclipseManager, ActiproSoftware, BioEnrollment, Windows Feedback, Xbox Game CallableUI, Xbox Identity Provider, and ContactSupport.

Then you can remove Cortana, stop Edge PDF takeover, uninstall onedrive, unpin tiles from the start menu, disable TELEMETRY and tasks, remove blotware regkeys.

I don't get why it is offered too to install NET v3.5 instate of Net Framework 4.8 Runtime, perhaps I'm messing things up in this point, don't know. I understand they are the same thing and 4.8 is required for many modern software.

AND, this is a mayor AND, you can revert the changes applied, in most cases, this is so cool.

I'm almost there, but I have a couple of serious question before going with the first installation.
My board IS GA-Z97X-UD5H-BK, and it has both ways to boot from, that is MBR and UEFI, and you can even choose a mixture of both, like this, choices:

1- MBR
2- UEFI
3- MBR and UEFI

Right now, with Win 7 64, I am in both MBR and UEFI, but the installation and the boot was automatically made in MBR for the "C" drive.

Should I go the same path or should I choose UEFI only? I guess UEFI would make more sense for Win 10. Of course, I have to choose UEFI only in the Bios before installation in this case.

I imagine I have to also setup correctly the way Rufus is going to load the ISO file of Win 10, that is, it should be either of both, or MBR or UEFI, which one should I choose accordingly?

Now, can I convert my 6 drives with all the info they have, into UEFI, I guess, that would be converting them to GPT. If it is doable, is it dangerous? All my samples are there, about 10TBs of many, many years of making samples myself.

yeah, but what´s easier,- using it becuase it´s installed already,- or rolling back to Win10 ?

What´s that exactly ?
When I google, there´s coming up all kind of s##t and no usable info.

I wonder what´s better today, formatting NTFS or GPT ?
When investigating drives in my machines, desktop or laptop,- NTFS is the rule for most partitions.

AFAIK, Minitool Partition Wizzard free converts between NTFS and GPT and promise "with no data loss".

Terminology mess... ;)
UEFI is a BIOS replacement (the software controlling the machine‘s hardware).
MBR and GPT are different partition schemes, the basic structure of the disk and relevant to boot.
NTFS is a file system that‘s written to the partitioned disk, and not related to the partition/boot mode.
The file system itself isn‘t related to BIOS/UEFI either.

since there is some software that is not win11 ready, i'd go with win10, personally. ultimately, it may not matter much either way. a legit win10 key is pretty darned cheap on ebay....

The toggle between MBR and UEFI likely sets a few things, the primary being booting from GPT/GUID boot partition along with a few added features like UHCI (universal host controller interface) to hand off EFI enabled peripherals to the OS without the OS having to instantiate them.

Ie, in legacy “BIOS” mode you load off of an MBR partition (hence that boot scheme) and hardware that is initialized in the BiOS has to be released and reconnected by the OS.

Since EFI supports higher resolutions than basic VESA modes, including EDID detection of the monitor chain (ensuring not just the monitor but the cable and GPU handshake with the right protocol and bandwidth—ie, DisplayPort or even DP over TB), use of a mouse and modern Bluetooth hardware for boot access, this should all make sense.

In practice you should be able to boot as long as the boot partition shows up, and hardware will figure itself out. UHCI/EHCI is something that typically only concerns hackintosh users or people with not well supported server configurations or Linux ARM boards etc.

Roll back, I don't hear problems doing this, it seems a solid option build in Windows itself, just get back brother :)

Conversion from MBR to GPT was a piece of cake. I thought the process would take forever for the amounts TBs of data I have here, but it is not related really with data itself, it is only related with the codes that determines the structure of your drives, that's all. I finished the 6 drives in about 5 minutes.

Just arrived, got a new 512 GB drive, no need for more space, it will be only for "C" partition. It is an ADATA SU800, pretty good drive for the price, it is very fast really compared with most drives today and it is just behind any Samsung expensive SSD drive. I have found out, nevertheless, that Samsung is "saving" money with their drives, they are no longer the quality they used to be, you are starting (like it always happens with great trademarks), to pay for a famous brand.

I AM READY NOW TO GO:

Allow me to feel like I child, I really want to! :D

I will be installing Win 10 in about one hour or so, everything is ready now :) . In a word I have all the procedure written down, what goes first and why, the order of the drivers to be installed in the motherboard, then the system apps I need in case of having any problems, like AOMEI backupper for instance, which is really great and indispensable. I have used it for many years at perfection, a hyper recommended option for your backups.

Then I have the list of software I have to install... uffff, that's exiting.

You see, life is like this... You have to go through some perils and then, and only then, the SUN shines... I hope it shines for me today :)

...
Instead of that, I was interested in a precise info what´s better for the real "ancient" HDD, I prefer to record (and download) on.
MBR or GPT too?

My SSDs all use GPT partition scheme,- and in all of my machines, there´s always a fast HDD in addition.

In this era, GPT is going to be better. MBR is significantly smaller as a boot sector and aligned well with the harddrives of the 90's. Since then, internal controllers have either had to make allowances for an MBR partition, or (much like with an SSD) the MBR offset actually adds additional overhead to what a hard drive controller has to do. Ie, modern platters for hard drives are significantly more dense and so sectors are significantly larger.

GPT+GUID accounts for this. GUID of course also means that the drive identifies itself as a generic ID (globally unique identifier) that the system will maintain throughout the boot process and regardless of what OS is loaded, making things again much simpler to manage compared to legacy BIOS means of finding volumes on boot (boot order and drive scan order can often make what drives are mapped to completely change with an OS reboot, when not using a GUID via a GPT partition schema).

Writing to you for the first time from this bloody OS, :D Win 10 is in my machine, after much fight I have to admit. I could go with a LONG and substantial RANT over it... It really is a disgusting OS in terms of what is behind it, it works great, but honestly, it comes from the underground, this is what it makes me feel.

When the first:

HI

...comes to your eyes, it doesn't feel at all like a friendly one. I don't trust this people and what lies behind them. But it is a much better system than 7, it is true. I will blow away all telemetry, onedrive, etc.

Thank you for your guidance and friendship, very much appreciated :D :) :D
