Very sad news for this to happen to such a good person. He truly was a one-of-a-kind personality and truly a larger-than-life personality. The funniest and most outgoing, he had a knack for reaching out to everyone in a freindly and very outgoing way. There will be a large voide here due to his absence for sure. RIP Jimmy.

Its no surprise to me that Jimmy influenced the longevity of SC/Scope. Often when composing music I would think to myself 'now would Jimmy like that riff ? Nah... throw it away. Use a fat B3 sound instead. '

Very sad news.. i did not know he was ill… (I never check the off topic forum, saw a post on Facebook from holger)

So sorry to hear about this. He seemed a very cool guy…

You know, Jimmy was possibly and worldwide the ONLY in depth specialist using SCOPE/XITE for live gigging (as a real keyboardplayer) to an excess.
I loved he did !
Such a good player and specialist, always being interested to make apparently impossible things possible.
He has so many special projects and custom designed devices in his SCOPE setup worth to keep alive.
It´s the combination of his VIscount K4 masterkeyboard, some carefully assorted native software devices and SCOPE/XITE making this rig unique and when it falls apart,- the magic is gone.

My sincere condolences to his family while enduring irrecoverable loss, only time will manage to ease. But equally to entire forum, as he was clearly PlanetZ’s appreciated member and source of intelligent exchange.

I hope his instruments and his liked setup, continues to be used by his son, discovering the flair and joy of creativity.

Strange how such loss forced me to register, as I’m in many ways frequent visitor who feels like at home at Scopeusers, with respect for Garyb and other members who are integral in what makes this forum great. Jimmy’s presence was certainly engraved into perception of any great topic, he will be remembered as such, and greatly missed

This will be my last post under my dads account, I don’t want to bog down his post history. I just wanted to say thank you again for everyone’s words about my father, it’s hard not to come on here and get emotional but it really has helped me cope and cement the vision of my dad that we all share as the one that lasts forever with me. My dad truly was an innovator, in all aspects of life not just the music. I will be keeping the scope card and implementing it into my own home recording set up, I’ll come back on here as “dawman jr” or something of the like when things settle down.

This is very sad,
I offer my condolences to his family and I will remember Jim for his positivity and for his sense of humor, and also for the creative advice he gave me for the development of some custom scope devices that are still in my archive and that I will keep in his memory.

Oh wow. I feel so sorry for JimmyV. My thoughts and deepest condolences go out to his family and friends here and irl, and especially to Jimmy Junior.

Brotha Man Jimmy was always great fun to have around here. Driven by his enthusiasm, humour and gratitude for a new tune or little goodies -even when often trivial for me to make- always made it so much fun to help him out. I just knew he'd sure be putting the lil tools to good use for many others to enjoy the results.

It's reaffirming and somewhat soothing to read that he had a similar effect on many here, none of the least on Holger, who since long furthers Creamware's legacy, in part thanks to Jimmy, and on John Bowen, who came to the platform with his experience as original Moog Clinician and gave us modular v1 back in the day and Solaris more recently.

About 25y of ingenious DSP marvel, still going, in part thanks to this wonderful ecosystem of which Jimmy was a loud and proud proponent, and this community where he was a prominent member.
And after 25y I'm still playing my Scope rig almost every day, much more than I'm visiting here, so I'm feel sorry for catching this so late.

Always in my thoughts, Jimmy. May you Fat Basstard be jamming forever.

Last time I checked this thread Jimmy was posting again, so I assumed this was just a continuation of the thread and only just now looked at it for updates. Somewhat shocked here.

I had many PM chats as well as forum chats over the years and I felt like a knew the guy even though we never met.

Indeed,- I did the same !

He still IS one of the most interesting people I´ve won as a friend over the web ever.
His sound design skills were for real players,- what he really was.
Brilliant and tasteful playing techniques demonstrating intelligent usage of technology beyond the usual sequencing crap.
AFAIK, he wasn´t recording or touring w/ the "big and famous" artist (what is it good for except for the money ?) - but we´ve lost a great keyboardplayer knowing his gear 100%+.
I know many,- working w/ the "big and famous",- being addicted to their techs when it comes to programming patches, MIDI program changes, controller assignments and reliable use.
He´s the one making SCOPE/XITE fully usable for live gigging, finding workarounds he needed and finding the native software working best together w/ SCOPE in a combination.
I often made PDFs from snippets of his posts and PMs,- just to have it for the future,- and now, I´m still learning from his experience.
I´m pretty sure he´ll never fall into oblivion @PlanetZ as long as PlanetZ exists.

Aww man. Shortly after getting an XITE I began searching for an A16, which Jimmy sold to me....and there began a side conversation that lasted a few years, sometimes sharing devices, and sometimes just working through midi, audio, or other questions, sharing experience, and expanding on forum comments, always with a personal flare and connection. I would have really liked to know him in person, but Im glad to have known him at all.

I was almost tempted to sell the A16 back to him a few times, since he occasionally hunted those dogs...

I never new about this till now, I'm in shock! I received this information by chance talking today with Bud. I loved Jimmy, he was such a nice guy, his enthusiasm was at the top of the roof. I am so, so sorry... THANK YOU FOR YOUR FRIENDSHIP JIMMY, GOD BLESS YOU!!!
