I've been offered a system with this mobo. The box has no HDDs so I can't fire it up to see other info as far as CPU, RAM etc. I'm wondering if it's a good mobo for Xite and Cubase11 to live in ...before I invest in new drives. I see it has 32G of Corsair Vegence LPX DDR4 2400mhz ram. No idea what the processor is until I fire it up. Heat sync is a Cool Master. Any info or experience with this mobo would be appreciated.

Thx

Ok thanks, garyb.

Just to know that it's not a huge risque to invest in a few drives is all I need to know.

Cheers, A

Hi,

If you Google the name of the motherboard - MSI Z270 Plus specs - in the sesrch engine it will show the board and take you to the correct MSI page where you can check the compatibility for processors etc....

The pages are confusing to start with if you are not sure of the Intel socket specifics.

Z270 is Intel socket 1151 - designed for 7th generation i7 such as 7700 K and should run 6th generation i7 too such as 6700 K.

Temperatures for 7700 K are hot and I needed to delid and apply liquid metal to get good temps but this is overkill for regular users and also risky for the processor.

One of the Asus B460 Intel socket 1200 boards would be better with 10400 or 10600 K - 6 cores.

Anyway hope the info helps

Figure out which PCIe slot doesn't share with the GPU slot. Use that for Xite. Even a 60GB spare SSD lying around is enough to test the system as a non-activated Win10 install.

Good luck!
